Our patient came to us with multiple teeth lost, inability to chew with the remaining teeth and a lot of cavities in whatever teeth were present.
We planned a full mouth rehabilitation for her with a treatment plan that included fixed and removable prosthesis.
There is always an option of Implants instead of a removable prosthesis for areas in the mouth in which ceramic caps are not an option, but our patient had multiple conditions systemically which made the Implants an impossible option.
We believe proper communication and training can help the patient use any prosthesis in an optimum way.
We referred back to the photos in which she had her natural teeth and smile and replicated that in our prosthesis .This is the final result after fixing all her caps and delivering the removable prosthesis.
We were glad to see that smile on her face ❤️

Busting some of the common myths around dental care for you -

🌼 It is commonly believed that brushing for a prolonged duration will give cleaner teeth. Busting this myth is the fact that excessive brushing only leads to further dental problems. Brushing for long causes tooth abrasion i.e wearing off of the enamel. This tooth abrasion is a very common cause of sensitivity in such patients.
So, it is enough to brush your teeth for 2 minutes each time. This gives optimal plaque removal and does not cause any damage to the teeth.

🌼 Most people prefer a hard bristles brush to clean their teeth as it gives a feeling of cleaner teeth. Whereas, such brushes only cause further wear of the enamel which lead to other dental concerns like sensitivity .
Ideally a medium bristles brush should be used ,or in patients with sensitivity a soft bristles brush for effective removal of plaque without any damage to the structure .

🌼Due to lack of dental awareness , most people visit a dentist only when they are in severe pain or the function is disrupted majorly. These issues if addressed at the very start can be treated at a much lesser time and cost. Prognosis of a treatment is best if the diagnosis is done on time. So it is essential to visit your dentist every 6 months to recognise any initial concerns .

🌼Toothpicks are commonly used to remove food stuck in between teeth. But very oftenly toothpicks cause infection in the area where they are used causing more harm than good. Always use only a floss in between teeth which will give no traa to the surrounding areas.

We often neglect the simple steps and end up suffering major consequences.

Here are some do's and don'ts to be kept in mind .

🌼 The most basic and one but the most important thing is to brush twice a day. It is equally or more important to brush in the night than in the morning as it will prevent cavities , gum diseases and bad breath. Brushing in the night prevents the bacteria to act on the remnants of food eaten through the day thus preventing decay/caries .

🌼 It is essential to replace a toothbrush after 3 months of use . Prolonged use of a toothbrush causes insufficient plaque removal which in turn can lead to various dental problems .

🌼 It is only logical to trust a trained professional to give you advice on your dental concerns than relying on the internet for the answers to your problems. The right diagnosis is the first step to a successful dental treatment , which only your dentist can give you.

🌼 Most people do not know the importance of cleaning your tongue along with brushing your teeth. An unclean tongue is one of the major reasons for bad breath. Also it can harbour a lot of bacteria that can cause gum diseases and decay.

Signs that you need to visit your dentist for a clean up : 1. Bleeding gums - one of the most common symptoms of an unhealthy gum is bleeding from gums during brushing or otherwise. It can be because of tartar accumulation and can be treated with cleaning and some medications if needed. 2. Bad breath - if you suffer from constant mouth odour , it can be because of poor oral hygiene. The tartar accumulation can cause an odour which can be treated with cleaning 3. Swollen gums - One main cause of swollen or inflamed gums is calculus or tartar formation. Clean up and proper oral hygiene can improve this condition. 4 .
