🔴Let's burst one more myth🔴

•Friend: "What will you have for dinner tonight?"🤔

•Me: "I am not feeling hungry. I will just have a fruit!"🍎

•Friend: "Stop 🛑. Don't you know you should not eat fruits at night as it will raise your blood sugar due to a slower metabolism at night?"

•Me: 🤦🏼‍♀️

🔴You can safely have fruits at any time during the day.🔴

♦️Agreed fruits have simple sugar like Fructose which impacts your blood sugar but the metabolic pathway by which fructose is metabolised in the body is different so it will not increase your blood sugar as rapidly as having glucose itself.

♦️Always remember to keep a gap of 2 hours between a meal and fruit to maintain your blood sugar levels. ✅

♦️Also having just a fruit at night is not enough if you have not had a fulfilling snack before. ❌

♦️Pair the fruit with a glass of milk🥛 and 2-3 walnuts or almonds so that you can add healthy protein and fats to your meal and make it a balanced one and avoid hypoglycemia ( low blood sugar) during sleep. ✅

♦️Also portion of fruit is important and it's better to have 100g (1 medium sized fruit) at a time.

♦️If you find this interesting, do like and share with others. ✅

•Kidneys are primary organs involved in blood purification, excretion and urine formation. 🩸

•CKD or chronic kidney disease is a long term kidney disease in which the kidney functioning is severely affected. ❌

•This leads to abnormal rise of potassium levels in blood due to which certain fruits and vegetables are avoided dusing CKD❌.

•The following 5 fruits are low in potassium and can be safely consumed in Kidney disease.
♦️Apple 🍎
♦️Guava
♦️Pear🍐
♦️Pineapple🍍
♦️Papaya.

•Besides these, some studies has shown that orange 🍊 and watermelon 🍉 can also be safely consumed. ✅

🔴However if you have diabetes along with kidney disease, the portion size of fruit matters too. 🔴

♦️Make it a goal to have no more that 100g (medium size of fruit) at a time to avoid abrupt increase of blood sugar.

Myth Vs Fact💯

🔴 It's a huge myth that people with diabetes must not eat white rice as it will increase your blood sugar.❌

🔴 Rice belongs to cereals group in our food pyramid and like other cereals it is high in carbohydrates due to which it is generally advised to be avoided in a fear that it will increase your blood sugar.😥

🔴 However research has shown that the glycemic index (ability of a food to increase blood sugar) of rice is low as compared to wheat. ✅

🔴 Besides that, the portion of rice that you eat matters so having a small bowl of rice (approx. 150g of cooked portion) will not drastically affect your blood sugar.✅

🔴 It is also a good idea to pair the rice with dal or usal to balance out the amino acid profile and give your body the healthy protein it needs!🍛

🔴 Lastly, have a bowl of salads alongwith it as fiber in salad will further decrease the digestion of carbohydrates and will prevent rapid increase of blood sugar. 🥗

🔴 Therefore the fact is: Diabetes can enjoy a serving of Rice as well!🍚
