In February, a patient underwent bariatric surgery in Ahmedabad. Three months later, she came to us with grave complications — perforated ulcer, kidney injury, cardiac arrest, respiratory distress, persistent infection, wound dehiscence… the list goes on.

On arriving at Jaslok Hospital, the patient needed aggressive support: BIPAP, high-flow nasal cannula, monitoring, nutrition, wound care. Under my guidance along with Dr. Rahul Borude, Dr. Jaydeep Palep, Dr. Prerna Gomes and many others — we repaired the perforation, cleaned infection, reinforced weak areas, treated drug-resistant fungal infections, and gradually saw recovery.

After 64 days of battling life-threatening complications, she regained strength, resumed oral intake, and was finally able to go home.
