Significance of Republic Day for India !!!
Republic Day is a national holiday in India, celebrated on January 26th every year to mark the adoption of the Indian Constitution in 1950. On this day, India officially became a republic and the Constitution of India came into effect, replacing the Government of India Act 1935 as the governing document of India.
The Constitution of India was adopted by the Constituent Assembly on November 26, 1949, and was later given the presidential assent on January 26, 1950, thereby making India a republic. The Constitution of India is the supreme law of India and outlines the fundamental rights and duties of citizens, the structure of the government, and the powers of the different branches of government.
The main Republic Day celebration takes place in the national capital, New Delhi, where a grand parade is held at Rajpath, featuring a display of India's cultural and military heritage. The President of India, who is also the Chief Guest of the parade, unfurls the national flag and the national anthem is played. The parade also includes floats representing different states of India, showcasing their culture and traditions.
Apart from the parade, there are also cultural programs organized across the country to celebrate the diversity and richness of Indian culture. Schools and colleges also hold special programs to mark the day, and patriotic songs and dances are performed.
