Every human being is a caretaker of the resources bestowed by God. None of us is the true owner of wealth, position, or power — we are merely trustees entrusted with these gifts to serve righteousness (dharma) and the welfare of all. When these divine blessings are used with purity of intent and humility of heart, they become instruments of harmony and upliftment. But when one, blinded by ego, begins to see himself as the owner and uses them for selfish or unrighteous purposes, his downfall becomes inevitable.
History bears witness to this eternal truth.
Ravan, despite being supremely learned and powerful, misused his might and resources for adharma. Overcome by arrogance and desire, he brought ruin upon himself and his entire clan.
Similarly, Duryodhan, though blessed with royal privilege, power, and guidance from great souls, chose to misuse his resources to spread injustice and enmity. His refusal to uphold dharma led to the Mahabharata war and the destruction of his entire lineage.
Sadly, the same pattern continues in the modern age. Many people have forgotten that all wealth, resources, and status ultimately belong to God. Instead of utilising them for righteous purposes — for service, compassion, and upliftment — they use them to demean others, to display vanity, and to inflate their ego. The blessings meant to serve as instruments of goodness have turned into measures of pride and comparison.
Yet, the law of righteousness remains unchanged. Whatever is used for selfishness and arrogance eventually perishes, while whatever is used in the service of truth and goodness endures. Let us therefore remember: we are caretakers, not owners. To walk the path of dharma is to honour the trust that the Divine has placed in our hands.
