On the first day of the 6th India Smart Datacenters & Cloud Infrastructure Summit and Awards 2024: Making India a Global Data Hub, prominent speakers graced the event and shared valuable insights:
🔸 Shri Niranjan Hiranandani, Past President, ASSOCHAM, cited, India’s vast data potential, surpassing that of the US and China. He noted the rapid growth of physical in Mumbai, predicting unprecedented development in the data center. “We can do it cheaper, we can do it better and we can do it faster.”
🔸Shri Sunil Gupta, Chair, ASSOCHAM National Council on Datacenter emphasized the role of data across all sectors. He stated that Data is the foundational resource that underpins almost every sector from to care to retail to entertainment to government to government activities and government to citizen-facing services. The digital pervasiveness is only becoming bigger, making India a digital-first economy leapfrogging us beyond every single largest global economy.”
🔸Shri Surajit Chatterjee, Co-Chair, ASSOCHAM National Council on Datacenter discussed the sector’s remarkable growth. He highlighted the increase from 350 MW pre-covid to over 800 MW, with projections to exceed 1,600 MW by 2026. He pointed out India’s position as an untapped global data hub with the lowest DC construction costs and a significant market for both hyper scalers and enterprises.
🔸Shri Manoj Paul, Co-chair, ASSOCHAM National Council on Datacenter, underlined the importance of data centers in India’s digital revolution. He noted their role in accelerating technology developments, promoting start-up innovation, improving government services, enabling remote employment and education, and boosting economic growth.
🔸Dr Umesh Kamble, Co-Chair, ASSOCHAM Maharashtra State Development Council (MSDC), concluded with a vote of thanks, emphasizing the need for robust data infrastructure to support the digital economy and to ensure compliance in meeting local demands.
