Premature Grey Hair is a term that has the power to give nightmares to anyone. This usually happens in early years of 30. Melanin is a pigment that is responsible for giving color to our hair, but after the premature age, the secretion of that pigment reduces by 10% or 20% for every decade. However, due to several factors like malnutrition, environmental conditions, hormonal changes, stress, and many more contribute to greying of hair even before the premature age.

There are many cosmetic products available in the market that promise to hide all the strands of grey hair but they may not be healthy to use on regular basis due to the chemicals present in them. But worry not! Look into your kitchen, you own your own magic, ingredients that promise to help you to get rid of the menace called premature grey hair! Let’s begin-

1. Curry Leaves-

Curry leaves are rich in vitamins like B complex and minerals like zinc, iron, etc that darken the hair and help to restore the natural melanin pigment. In addition to that, it also stimulates the hair growth and prevents hair loss.

Use: Wash the curry leaves and boil them in coconut oil until they are charred. Once the oil is cooled down, apply it onto your scalp and rinse it after an hour or two. Repeat the process once or twice a week.

Note- Also, eating curry leaves promotes healthy hair.

2. Henna-

Henna is a well known ingredient when it comes to coloring of hair. It is a natural hair colorant which darkens the hair and gives you a young look. Henna also

enhances hair growth and keeps dandruff at bay. It also strengthens the hair and gives those thin strands a double coating which protects them from breakage. Not only that, henna also moisturizes the scalp and fights bacteria and germs.

Use: Take some freshly cleaned henna leaves and boil them in coconut oil until they are charred. Let the oil dry and then apply it onto your scalp. Rinse it after two to three hours with water and shampoo.

3. Coconut oil and Lemon Juice-

Coconut oil is a true best friend. It consists of many antioxidants which help in prevention of premature grey hair when applied regularly. The lemon juice on the other hand helps to maintain a healthy scalp with no traces of dandruff or any other infection. It is also a natural lightener which means it gives your hair a shiny look.

Use: Mix three tablespoons of lemon juice with coconut oil and massage on your scalp. Make sure the mixture reaches the roots as well as the tips of the strands. Rinse it after two to three hours with water and shampoo. Repeat once a week.

4. Onion juice-

Onions not only make all of us cry but the premature grey hair cry. Well, the premature greying of hair is found to be caused by build-up of hydrogen peroxide at the base of the hair follicles and decrease in the natural antioxidant compound- catalase. Our very own onion juice promotes the production of this catalase that in turn decreases the number of premature grey hair in the bunch of black/brown ones.

Use: Grate an onion and squeeze to get the onion juice. Apply it directly onto the scalp and leave it for an hour or so. Rinse it with warm water and repeat the process daily for a few weeks.

5. Amla / Indian Gooseberry-

Amla is another excellent remedy for premature greying of hair. Being rich in vitamin C and antioxidants, it has several anti-aging benefits. Amla also fights dandruff and gives your hair a shiny look. It not only nourishes your hair but also reduces hair fall.

Use: Boil few dried Indian gooseberry piece (or alma powder) in coconut oil until they are charred. Let the oil cool down. Apply the oil onto your scalp. Make sure it reaches every nook and corner of your scalp as well as the tips of your hair. Rinse after two to three hours and repeat the process at least once or twice a week.

6. Black Tea-

Black tea not only helps to darken your hair but also gives it a shiny look. Black tea is known to boost the melanin that is responsible for the coloring of your hair. Apart from that, it also reduces hair fall since it is rich in tannin- a compound which effectively fights hair fall.

Use: Take two teaspoons of black tea and boil them in water. After that add a teaspoon of salt to it and allow the water to cool down. Apply the solution onto your hair repeatedly and rinse it. When applying for the last time, allow the solution to be absorbed by the hair and scalp for 15 to 20 minutes. Rinse it with cold water afterwards but do not use a shampoo. Repeat the process once a week.

7. Rosemary and Sage-

Rosemary and sage are herbs that are used for effective control of premature grey hairs. Rosemary promotes the growth of hair and fights hair fall in addition improving the pigmentation process, thereby preventing premature grey hair. Similar to rosemary, sage also prevents the premature greying of hair.

Use: Boil half cup of rosemary and sage in two different cups of water and allow them to cool down. Once they cool down, after shampooing apply them onto your hair. Let it stay for 15 to 20 minutes and the rinse it with water. Repeat the process on daily basis.

8. Mustard Oil and Caster Oil-

One of the ways to prevent the premature greying of hair is proper nourishment. Mustard oil is rich in zinc, iron, calcium and magnesium and many proteins that provide the required nourishment to the hair and strengthen it. While the castor oil prevents and repairs damage. The oil blend will also speed up the hair growth too.

Use: Mix both the oils and heat them until they are warm enough to be applied. Massage your scalp. Rinse it after an hour with water and shampoo.

We Indians are pretty much into local and junk foods and we just can’t stop craving for it, but have you thought what you are eating is covered with ink? Relax; we are not talking about food, but the wrapping. Advisory issued by India's food regulator expressed that the utilization of daily papers for packing and wrapping of food items, a common practice of street merchants, represents a health hazard.

The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) confined the utilization of newspapers and packaging material as the utilization of food wrapped in the newspapers were damaging to health, regardless of the possibility that the food has been cooked hygienically. Risk of diseases is increasing due to newspapers being broadly used as food packaging material by small hotels, merchants and also in homes instead of absorbent paper. Printing ink contains harmful pigments, chemical fasteners, and different harmful added substances which cause dangers to human health if consumed.

The Health Risks of Lead in Newspapers:

Newspaper ink contains substantial metals like lead and cadmium, which has an adverse effect on health – particularly in case of youngsters. The FSSAI has cautioned that few of the chemicals that filter into your food from the newspaper are known as cancer-causing agents and can increase your risk of cancer. Especially when you buy something oily, excess oil is absorbed by the paper, thus the mixing of ink in food is quite obvious.

Highest risk from newspaper wrapped food:

It is mainly cautioned to kids, seniors, and those with compromised organ capacity, and individuals with a weakened immune system as they are more likely to problems related to health if they are presented with food stuffed in the newspaper.

The Health Minister JP Nadda stated, "It has been watched that sellers have been utilizing newspapers in packing and serving food, which is very harmful. I request the public to discourage the merchants from doing as such."

It is necessary that we strictly accept the notice of this guidance and we ask individuals to create awareness and to ask for different packing material when buying food from roadside vendors. After all, your healthy life is in your hand.

A wise man once said “A smile is the prettiest thing you can wear.” Uh-huh, not if your teeth are in a bad state! A healthy mouth is as important as a healthy body. Every day, we use our mouths to speak, smile, and eat. Poor oral health can affect any of these mundane tasks that we so easily take for granted. Moreover, it can also bring your confidence down and lower your self-esteem. Poor oral health can also be a sign of something wrong else where in your body, and hence, proper oral hygiene is a must.

Good oral health is not hard to achieve, but it does take discipline. Use these tips regularly and be assured that your mouth and teeth last you a lifetime!

Brushing your teeth at least twice a day - Everyday, you should brush your teeth twice, for atleast two minutes with a fluoride toothpaste using a good quality toothbrush. For kids less than 2 years, toothpaste should not be used. Just a gentle toothbrush and water is enough for them.

Flossing and Rinsing - Using dental floss or interdental brushes to clean between your teeth every time you brush is essential for gum health. Using a mouthwash will help to provide extra protection, fight bacteria and freshen your breath.

Changing your toothbrush regularly - One must change the toothbrush every two to three months. You an even change it sooner if the bristles become frayed and worn. Using a worn-out toothbrush may harm your gums and fail to provide adequate cleaning of teeth.

Cutting down on sugary snacks - Reduce the amount of sugary foods and drinks in your diet. We all know we should curb the amount of sugary foods we consume, but we also need to limit the frequency of consumption. They are unhealthy for not only the body, but also for your teeth. After eating these foods, the tooth enamel softens, and is more susceptible to damage. Regular snacking on sugary foods may soften the enamel leaving the teeth at risk of acid erosion and cavities.

Cleaning your Tongue regularly - Use a tongue cleaner or a soft toothbrush to regularly clean the surface of your tongue and remove bacteria that can cause bad breath.

Cleaning your teeth half an hour before breakfast - Consuming foods and drinks with high acidic levels will lead to softening of the enamel on your teeth. Eating straight after brushing, when the enamel is at its softest, can damage it. Over time, a weakened enamel can cause sensitivity, staining and cavities. It is recommended to wait 30 minutes for eating after brushing, to allow the enamel to harden again.

Avoiding to***co, smoking and alcohol - Smoking, chewing to***co and consuming alcohol can increase your risk for oral cancer. When you combine it with poor oral hygiene or other risk factors, it dramatically boosts your chances of getting cancer. Moreover, chewing to***co and smoking can stain your teeth and cause bad breath too.

Healthy Diet - Eat a lot of fruits, cheese, leafy vegetables, and a high-protein diet.

Self-Assessment - Take a look inside your mouth regularly for cavities, sores that don’t heal, or irritated gums. If you find anything abnormal, visit your dentist immediately.

Regular visits to the dentist - You should visit your dentist once every 6 months for regular check-ups and cleaning. Replace missing teeth if any, get all your tooth cavities filled. Never ignore any dental pain because the longer you wait, the worse it is going to get. Poor oral health for long period of time can even result in tooth loss.

Using theseoral care tips will help you take good care of your mouth and teeth. This will ensure that you have a pleasant breath, fewer cavities and most importantly, a nice smile. So go ahead, say cheese!

Every individual has his/her way of spending money in order to fulfil their varying needs & interests. But do you know it can reveal your personality?

People got different categories in which they divide their earnings. This can be used to infer certain personality traits such as how materialistic they are or how much self-control they tend to have.

As per a study, it is possible to predict people's personality by observing the way they spend their money.

During the study, the participants were asked to complete a personality survey that included questions determining materialism, self-control, sincerity to experience, conscientiousness, extraversion, amiability and neuroticism.

The researchers used a machine learning technique to analyse whether participants' relative spending across categories was predictive of specific traits. Overall, the correlations between the model predictions and participants' personality trait scores were modest.

Taking a gander at explicit relationships between spending classes and attributes, the specialists found that individuals who were increasingly open to experience would, in general, spend more on flights, the individuals who were progressively outgoing would, in general, make all the more eating and drinking buys, the individuals who were increasingly pleasant given more to charity, the progressively honest individuals placed more cash into investment funds and the progressively materialistic individuals spent more on jewellery and less on the donation part.

It was observed that the individuals who revealed better self-control spent less on bank charges and the individuals who evaluated higher on neuroticism spent less on home loan instalments.

They found some clear applications in the banking and financial services industries, which likewise raises potential moral difficulties. For example, financial services firms could use personality predictions to recognize people with specific attributes, for example, people with low self-control and after that they focus on those people with a variety of domains, from online advertising to direct mail, researchers said.

Description

Back pain surgery is performed in those situations when the patient is suffering from chronic neck pain or back pain. The procedure involves the removal of the vertebral fractures, spinal stenosis and bone spurs.

There are many types of spine surgery:

- Laminectomy

- Spinal Fusion

- Foraminotomy

- Disc Replacement

A spine surgery is indicated in those conditions when the patient loses the ability to hold in faces or progressive weakness in the legs or there is severe and constant pain in the abdomen and the back.

Pre Procedure

If the body is kept in good shape before the surgery, then chances are that the recovery period is shortened. Patients are prescribed a dose of painkillers after the surgery in order to control the pain. Additionally, the patient is advised to stop smoking as it can increase the risk of spinal problems.

During Procedure

- Spinal Fusion: It is one of the most common surgeries. An intervertebral disc is removed and replaced by a titanium cage. The bone grafts are joined together and fused together over a period of time. It is done in order to relieve pressure from the spine.

- Foraminotomy: The bone at the side of the vertebrae is cut in order to broaden the space at the points of exit of the nerves from the spinal cord. It can result in instability of the spine.

Post Procedure

- After the surgery, the patient has to take the prescribed dose of painkillers regularly.

- The patient is also advised proper rest and also to avoid smoking and alcohol.

- The patient has to avoid prolonged sitting and maintain a healthy diet.

Pests in the house are no joke. They cause as much irritation as health hazards. These pests can also act as carriers for allergens which irritate people with sensitive medical conditions. The f***l droppings and shed skin of the pests can also become airborne and contaminate the air. Not to forget the bacteria that the pests themselves carry.

Some of the most common household pests are cockroaches, rodents, rats, fleas, mosquitoes and ants. All these pests act as carriers for infectious diseases and must be exterminated as many times as possible.

The cockroaches, for instance, can slip through any crack in the walls and bring bacteria like salmonella and E.coli with them while the rodents, including the bats, carry salmonella on their bodies leaving a trail of contamination on every surface. They also carry the plague, hantavirus and many other extremely serious diseases. The mosquitoes carry dengue fever and diseases such as the West Nile virus or the Zika Virus with them. The rats and larger mammals carry rabies. The mice constantly dribble urine making any surface they come into contact with get contaminated. The worst part is that the urine dries fast becoming invisible, so one might not know that the floor is contaminated with a pile of nasty, mouse-ridden bacteria.

The other problem with having pests is allergens. These pests can carry allergens to home too! The f***s also cause allergic reactions and their shedding skin can pollute the air. Dust mite dander and droppings are one of the most common indoor allergens. The black widows and brown recluse spiders are two venomous spiders whose bites can cause health issues and even death if left untreated. Wasps, hornets and bees can also sting which can cause severe and sometimes lethal, allergic reactions in humans.

And that’s not all! These pests can also transfer the diseases to the animals as well. So no matter what, it is necessary to keep fighting this battle with household pests regardless of the number of times.
