Gas in pregnancy is far more common than we talk about.

Across trimesters and pregnancies, this is one of the concerns I hear most often, yet it’s also one of the most misunderstood.

Many women assume it’s something they just have to put up with or that it means something is wrong. Most of the time, it’s neither. It’s simply the body responding to change and asking for a little support.

The reassuring part is that relief doesn’t usually come from doing more or trying anything extreme. Small, consistent changes can make a noticeable difference.

Part 3 : What you must eat this every day.

Yes, you must eat a seasonal fleshy fruit of your choice daily. You can have this on waking up, as an in-between snack meal or after dinner (if dinner is early + ensure to eat only at room temperature).

Fleshy fruits are often underestimated during pregnancy, but they play a powerful role in gut health. Fruits like papaya, banana, mango, chikoo and custard apple are naturally rich in vitamins such as A and B group vitamins, along with carotene and prebiotic fibre.

They help soothe acidity, support digestion and nourish the gut gently.

These nutrients support the mother’s body and also contribute to healthy foetal growth.

Comment “kanji” and I will DM you the recipe card.

Part 2 : My top two foods recommendations that can be eaten throughout pregnancy to prevent heartburn and acidity

1. Home-set curd - Can be had with meals or as a small bowl in between meals to soothe acidity.

2. Rice kanji - Best had as breakfast. One to two times a week is good.

This clip is from my session on 'Foods for Fertility & Preconception' with Khushbu for The First Parents.

Comment "winters" and I will DM you the pregnancy superfood of the season ❤️

Part 1 : How does gut health affect conception ?

Gut health is not one isolated piece of the body. It quietly influences our emotions, physical energy, muscular strength and hormonal balance.

When the gut is not healthy, nutritional absorption reduces. And when absorption reduces, deficiencies begin to show up. Over time, this can affect fertility levels and even conception.

Supporting gut health is not optional during pregnancy planning. It is foundational care.

Don’t try to fix what is not broken 💔

If you’re making a cookie or a brownie at home, maida is the right ingredient for the recipe. It’s lighter, tastier, and exactly how it is meant to be.

If you’re eating out, maybe Asian food, rice noodles or wheat noodles are better choices. Zucchini noodles or lentil noodles may look healthy, but often lead to overeating, bloating, and constipation.

Dear mothers and mothers-to-be, your body is already working harder than ever. Simple, familiar foods support -

✅ easier digestion,
✅ healthier gut, and
✅ better nutrient absorption.

This clip is from my session for the couples group of The Yoga Institute, Mumbai, on Annam Brahma.

⚠️ Confession: I am not a certified nutritionist.

I am a qualified one. Yes, I have education, qualifications, and years of work experience.

And yes, education and qualification mean the same.
“I lost 10 kgs and now I can help you” doesn’t mean either of these.

Know the difference and safeguard your health.

There’s a new trend going around of having ghee on an empty stomach for better skin, good digestion, and what not. But is it really beneficial to consume it this way?

The truth is, ghee works best when it’s part of your meals not when taken alone or mixed with black coffee. So how to eat ghee? The answer is simple, in the way we have been always been consuming

As tadka for dals and sabzis 🥘
While making parathas 🫓
In laddoos, halwas or any homemade sweet 🍯
Or simply drizzled over hot rice 🍚

That’s how ghee truly nourishes the body and enhances flavor, aids in digestion, and supports overall health.

So instead of following every new wellness trend, let’s trust the way we’ve always done it simple, delicious, and time-tested 💛

Honored to be invited as a guest speaker at N.L. Dalmia High School. ✨

Karanika Mahindra recently had the opportunity to interact with Class 9 students on a topic that touches so many lives yet is often surrounded by confusion, “Eating Right for Teenagers.” 🌿

She explored the importance of balanced nutrition, understanding hunger cues, and how hormones like ghrelin and leptin influence appetite.

So deeply grateful to my star client Mansi for taking the time to write this and sharing her journey ❤️❤️

Every now and then, a message like this brings a wave of warmth and purpose. It reminds me why I do what I do. Why every conversation, every plan, every small step matters. It’s not just about nutrition or food. It’s about trust, connection, and the quiet changes that slowly build into lasting transformation.

🙏 It means the world to read this, especially The Karanika Effect, as Mansi calls it ☺️ Now a special part of the foodnanny experience ! That feeling of walking out lighter, happier, and more at peace. I still remember her saying during one of our calls, “It feels like therapy, not just a health session.”

Thank you for your trust, warmth, and these words that will stay with me for a long time 🙏❤️ Best of health and happiness to you, always :)

⏰ You don’t need to finish dinner by 7 pm unless you’re actually sleeping at 10.

What matters is giving your body 2–3 hours to digest before bed. That’s the sweet spot for good sleep and better metabolism.

If you’re up late studying or working and feel hungry, don’t punish yourself by staying empty. A small, mindful snack like cashews and a piece of jaggery will keep your blood sugar steady and your brain calm.

🌙 Remember, timing matters, but rigidity doesn’t. Listen to your body, not the internet clock.
