As the trains were standstill and public transport was disturbed, me and Dr.Vikram travelled by a state transport bus from Nashik to Mumbai with our parents. I vividly remember our bus worming through the flooded streets. The campus was full of huge jackfruits fallen on the soil because of heavy winds and rain. We were greeted in the hospital campus with mischievous grins of our seniors 😁(_aao Thakur!_). The academics building resembled a gothic tower from medieval times. Clerk (or should I say Le Clerk🙄) punched my OG documents (_tab tak ki jeevan bhar ki punji_) and hurled them in a wooden cabinet that belonged to the British era. God knows when I’ll see them again.
The first lecture was held in the Anatomy hall on 30th or 31st July. (People nowadays call it Munnabhai MBBS fame..no, Munnabhai didn’t make it popular😤; The hall made the movie and the character popular). We hostellers could make it to the lecture, most of the localites couldn’t, as public transport was still disturbed. The lecture was adjourned because of poor attendance, and we left to explore the city on our feet. Having lunch in a shady dining hall is sort of a thrill, when you are staying few hundred kilometres away from your home..for the first time. And it was just a beginning of an adventure that was going to last for next 4-5 years😊.
