Vaccination remains one of the most successful, safe, cost-effective, and proven fundamental disease prevention measures in the history of public health. It averts approximately 2 to 3 million deaths each year around the world. It is considered as a public good that has moved to center stage as one of the vital driving forces in reducing U5 mortality due to vaccine preventable disease (VPDs). Besides, it also provides a range of other benefits such as disease control and elimination, drug resistance prevention, and overall psycho-social and societal well-being.
There is nothing unfortunate than a precious life dying due to VPDs. Vaccination is everybody’s responsibility and initiatives such as regular interactions at different levels, effective communication including reminders, behavior interventions, continued supply of vaccines and logistics, additional resources for vaccination program, and people friendly healthcare delivery system could be helpful to strengthen the vaccination practices.
