Conditions of spine :

>>>>>>>>✅ names begin with “spondyl” describes a health condition of the spine. But that’s where the similarities among spondylosis, spondylitis, and spondylolisthesis. They all have different symptoms, risk factors, and treatments.

****✅Spondylitis (“itis” means inflammation) is the only one that is an inflammatory condition.

****✅Spondylosis (“losis” means problem) results in wear and tear on your spine and occurs as you get older.

****✅Spondylolysis is a stress fracture through the pars interarticularis of the lumbar vertebrae.

**** ✅Then there is the tongue-twisting condition called spondylolisthesis. The name combines “spondyl” with “listhesis,” which means “slipping, sliding, or movement”. Bones in your vertebrae slip out of position, moving either forward or backward.

>>>>✅Spondylitis Causes Pain and Inflammation.
A chief symptom of spondylitis is back pain that comes on with stiffness in the morning and lasts for at least half an hour. Over time, this condition can proceed to ankylosis, or new bone formation on the spine. If this happens, sections of the spine can fuse. It is then known as ankylosing spondylitis (AS). It Ankylosing spondylitis is an inflammatory condition that causes pain, stiffness, and inflammation in other parts of the body like the hips, ribs, shoulders, heels, and other joints.

“✅In spondylitis, the immune system actually attacks the spine and causes inflammation,”
Age is not a factor with this one. It definitely tends to affect the young.

Treatment includes not just medication, exercise, and physical therapy, but also good posture practices.

>>>>✅Spondylosis Is Wear-and-Tear Arthritis
When osteoarthritis affects the joints in the spine, it’s called spondylosis. spondylosis is very common in older people. More than 80 percent of people over 40 will have some degeneration, or wear and tear, of the spine

While spondylosis can be painful, the pain does not radiate to the arms or legs. It tends to be more common when you have been active or sitting for a long time, and you may have stiffness when you get out of bed in the morning or when you sit for a long time.

imaging test like an X-ray, CT scan, or MRI. You may be given nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) or pain relievers. Narcotic pain relievers should be used sparingly for these age-related degenerative conditions. Physical therapy and exercise, such as swimming also help

__________
>>>>✅Spondylolysis is a stress fracture through the pars interarticularis of the lumbar vertebrae. The pars interarticularis is a thin bone segment joining two vertebrae. It is the most likely area to be affected by repetitive stress. This condition is fairly common and is found in one out of every 20 people.

Spondylolysis is a very common cause of lower back pain in kids, teens, and young adults. It usually heals with rest and physical therapy. Surgery usually isn't needed.

Without treatment, spondylolysis can lead to spondylolisthesis

__________________
>>>>>✅Spondylolisthesis Is Misaligned Vertebra.
Spondylolisthesis develops when a vertebra has actually slipped forward or backward onto the vertebra below it. This puts pressure on that lower vertebra. Often, people have no symptoms but it can cause nerve compression or a “pinching” of the nerve roots, which can lead to pain radiating down an arm or leg.

There are various kinds of spondylolisthesis, but the most common one is degenerative spondylolisthesis. This means that it develops as people get older. With age, the discs that cushion the vertebrae lose water and get thinner. This is a risk factor for those bones to slip out of position. The second most common form of spondylolisthesis is when there is a crack in the spine.

“Typically, people have pain with activities and when they sit and relax, the pain resolves.”

✅The treatment is typically physical therapy, and medication management like nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) such as ibuprofen or aspirin. Epidural steroid injections.

𝐓𝐡𝐨𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐢𝐜 𝐌𝐨𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲
——
here are a few strategies you can do on your own to improve thoracic mobility and decrease mid-back pain.

The thoracic spine is made up of twelve vertebrae (T1-T12) and naturally assumes a slightly rounded or kyphotic curve. Because the thoracic spine also has connections to the ribs, it is naturally more stable and less mobile than either the lumbar or cervical spinal regions.

Interestingly, previous research has shown that mobilizations directed at the thoracic spine can be helpful in terms of reducing both shoulder and neck pain. In the clinic, we often teach patients how to self-mobilize the thoracic spine when treating low back, shoulder and neck issues.

If you are experiencing pain or stiffness in the spine or shoulders, give the exercises shown here a try and let me know if you have any questions.

1️⃣Roller Mobilization
2️⃣Roller Extension
3️⃣Sidelying Rotation
4️⃣Quadruped Rotation
5️⃣Cat-Camel
6️⃣Ball Rollout

Lateral epicondylitis 💪

Lateral epicondylitis, also known as tennis elbow, refers to inflammation of the lateral epicondyle of the humerus. All the wrist extensors have one common tendinous origin that is lateral epicondyle of humerus. Due to repetitive stress, some of the fibers of the extensors get teared and initiates inflammation to the lateral epicondyle of humerus. Actually the fibrous attachment of the muscles anchored into the periosteum of bone and any stress causing tearing of muscle fibers leads to damage of periosteum, and this leads to inflammation.

🟣 Clinical features

✔️Tenderness over the lateral epicondyle
✔️Oedema
✔️Redness
✔️Patient will feel pain during extend wrist.

✔️cause

🟣 Repetitive mechanical force.
✔️ trauma
✔️ idiopathic
✔️ injury cause calcification
✔️ Inflammation of annular ligament

Q) Who are more susceptible to have tennis elbow?

- In the householder womans are more prone to suffer from this condition. Apart from that, it is also common in athletes, gym enthusiasts etc.

•clinical features

-Local tenderness at lateral epicondyle with aching pain on the back of forearm.

-Cozen's test- painful resisted extension of the wrist with elbow and full extension elicits pain at the lateral elbow.

- Passive wrist flexion with elbow in full extension cause severe pain at lateral elbow. Treatment conservative treatment is enough to cure.

🟣 Treatment

- ultrasound therapy
- active ROM exercises
- tennis elbow belt
- hot application
- resisted exercises
