Natarajan is a renowned ophthalmologist and Padma Shri Awardee, honored by the President of India. With a remarkable career spanning 36 years, he has performed over 60,000 exclusive Vitreous & Retinal surgeries and trained more than 68 Vitreo-retinal surgeons worldwide. In 2005, he founded the Aditya Jyot Foundation for Twinkling Little Eyes (now Kamala Sundaram Foundation), a not-for-profit chari
table trust. The foundation has conducted thousands of Diabetic Retinopathy camps, screening over 1,00,000 people for Diabetes, with more than 2000 evaluated for Retinopathy. Over 60,000 children have been screened in school programs, and a door-to-door campaign has reached over 2,00,000 households, performing over 5000 free surgeries. The foundation's dedication to reducing avoidable and unavoidable blindness has gained global recognition, with the World Diabetes Federation lauding its Diabetic Retinopathy project. Dr. Natarajan also co-founded the "SUNDARAM NATARAJAN BLIND FREE INDIA FOUNDATION," with a vision to eliminate diabetic-related blindness from India by 2025. In addition to his humanitarian work, he holds prestigious positions such as Treasurer of the International Council of Ophthalmology and President of multiple ophthalmic societies. His contributions to the field have earned him numerous awards, including the Achievement In Eye And Vision Advocacy Award from ARVO.
