In today’s world, there is a lot of confusion around hair care. From frequent trims to daily washing, we often follow habits without knowing whether they are actually helpful. Here are some common myths and shares practical guidance on maintaining healthy hair in a natural and balanced way.

1️⃣ Cutting Hair Frequently Makes It Grow Faster - Myth
Hair grows approximately half an inch per month, regardless of how often you cut it. Trimming improves the appearance by removing split ends, but it does not affect the speed of hair growth. Cutting helps manage damaged ends, but it does not stimulate growth from the roots.

2️⃣ Shampooing Causes Hair Fall - Myth
Shampooing does not cause hair fall. It simply removes hair strands that are already in the shedding phase. In fact, maintaining a clean scalp is essential for healthy hair growth. Shampooing should be done regularly and systematically to support scalp hygiene and overall hair health.

3️⃣ Air Drying Is Better Than Blow Drying - Fact
Air drying is always better because excessive heat can damage the hair shaft. Natural drying allows the hair to retain its strength and texture. If you must use a hair dryer, use it sparingly, keep the heat gentle, and avoid concentrating heat in one area for too long.

4️⃣ Washing Hair Every Day Is Not a Good Habit - Fact
Washing hair daily can create health concerns, especially if the scalp remains wet for long periods. A wet head may contribute to sinus issues, colds, and discomfort. Hair should be washed according to need — especially considering pollution and dust exposure — but not as a rigid daily habit. Protecting your hair when outdoors is better than overwashing it.

Healthy hair is not about extreme routines but about balance and awareness. Cleanliness, gentle care, natural drying, and moderation are key principles. Instead of blindly following trends, understanding what truly supports scalp and hair health will help you maintain strong, naturally beautiful hair in the long run.

The Yoga Institute welcomed Pujya Swami Niranjanananda Saraswati ji (Bihar School of Yoga). He paid a personal visit to meet Hansa Maa. Swami ji is a renowned yogi, author and the spiritual successor of Swami Satyananda Saraswati ji.

Initiated into the Dashnami Sannyasa in 1971, Swamiji spent over a decade travelling globally, establishing Satyananda Yoga ashrams and sharing authentic yogic teachings. He founded Bihar Yoga Bharati in 1994, the world’s first yoga university, and through his extensive writings has meaningfully bridged traditional wisdom with contemporary life. In 2017, he was honoured with the Padma Bhushan for his outstanding contribution to yoga.

The interaction reflected a shared commitment to Yoga as a holistic and experiential science for human well-being. Conversations centered on the timeless relevance of authentic yogic wisdom in nurturing balance, clarity, resilience and more humane systems in today’s rapidly evolving world.

Swami ji expressed deep regard for Hansa Maa and Hrishi ji for their lifelong dedication to the path of Householder Yoga, highlighting the mutual respect and harmony between the two revered lineages.

May the blessings of the parampara continue to guide seekers everywhere and illuminate the modern yogic landscape.
