Until the 1950s, people with asthma relied on bulky steam devices, powders, or even herbal smoke for relief. These were hard to use and not portable.
In 1956, everything changed when a little girl asked her father:
👉 “Why can’t my asthma medicine be like a perfume spray?” 🌸
That question inspired Dr. George Maison and Riker Laboratories to create the first Metered Dose Inhaler (MDI) — a small, portable device that made asthma care simpler, safer, and life-changing.
