People keep talking about how health goes downhill after 35. I disagree. What you sow in your twenties & early thirties determines what you will reap in your late thirties and beyond.

Start now, because, even if you say you will start 'tomorrow'or any other day you will still have to step out of your comfort zone that time.

It won't magically get easier, you won't have more time than you have now. The more you delay, the tougher it will be.

If you practice procrastinating, you'll only get better at it. Same way, if you practice implementation, you will get better at it.
So, why delay !?

💫 Your life does not & SHOULD NOT revolve around a number on the scale.

💫 While it is important to be in a healthy weight range for good metabolic health and to lower the risk of diseases, an obsession with the scales for the sake of vanity, can be extremely unhealthy for one's mental and emotional health.

💫 Sometimes the weight may not come down for varying reasons like muscle loss, hormones, emotional stress, slow metabolism, menopause & medical reasons.

💫 That doesn't mean eating right & exercising is futile. You will still get the above mentioned benefits from leading a healthy lifestyle, even if the scales don't reflect it in YOUR time line.

💫Also, eating a well balanced diet under the right guidance, will minimise your learning curve about what works for you & you can avoid the resulting damage. That's the formula for long term weight loss /inch loss success.

Managing your blood glucose can make a WORLD of difference to your health.
Uncontrolled blood sugar levels can literally destroy your cells and tissues.

Long term effects of consistently high blood glucose can be : Cardiovascular disease, stroke, kidney damage, liver damage, nerve damage. It can also impact vision, feet and mental health.

Follow the above guidelines to take control of your health.

1) Fiber at lunch & dinner : Include salads + moderate portion of a whole grain millet. Fiber slows down the rate at which glucose is released in the bloodstream and may also positively impact the absolute values.

2) Weight training: Nothing else can improve your insulin sensitivity & glucose uptake as effectively and as dramatically as weight training. Just 3 days a week is enough.

3) Exclude High GI Carbs include maida, cornflour, potato. Limit rice intake
If you must eat these, eat in small portion after a salad. The list is suggestive. Not exhaustive.

4) Switch over to healthy fats like cold pressed oils of olive, sesame, mustard. Fat is an important nutrient. But there are harmful fats i.e. trans fats or refined oils that you must avoid.

5) Limit your fruit intake as fruits can also spike blood sugars if you're metabolically compromised.

(This recommendation highly depends on your individual reports) or eat less sweet fruits like cherries, papaya, strawberries, jamun.

6) Limit total carb intake:
Now this is a no brainer, ain't it ? Carbohydrates raise glucose levels. If you're having trouble controlling blood sugars, this is the simplest way to do so.

A typical Indian meal will easily have 200-300 gm carbs or even more. And most of us lead a sedentary lifestyle so we don't need so many carbs to begin with.

7) Walk 1 hour or 8000 steps a day. This doesn't have to be at a stretch. Can be done in parts through the day. Best times to walk are 1.5 to 2 hours post a meal to improve glucose uptake.

😄To a great extent, we choose our happiness with our choices of thoughts, words, responses and actions.

😄Above are some simple and effective ways to 'hack' happy chemicals like dopamine, oxytocin , endorphins & serotonin

😄 Implementing even 1 or 2 of the above hacks will make you feel happier instantly

😄However, I do believe that long term happiness is an outcome of many favorable choices that we make on a daily basis, whether we choose consciously or subconsciously.

😄And that's why Mindfulness is added to the list 😇

😄 Practice at least some of them daily and have not just a happy weekend, but a happy life ! Enjoy!

Here comes the recipe of my 3 Favourite Veg juices! 😋

Fresh Vegetable Juices are natural super-doses of antioxidants & multi-vitamins! Only a little fruit is added to enhance the taste manifold! Also do not skip the lemon juice. It's combo with the sweetness of fruit adds a lovely sweet-tangy flavour to the juice!

Note that adding too much fruit is not recommended because fruits contain the natural sugar, fructose & when you juice up the fruit , it increases its glycemic index & glycemic load.

If you're skeptical about the taste of Vegetable Juices, give these recipes a shot. The best part ? Even your kids will love these juices!

91% people replied"yes" on my poll "Do you feel like eating something sweet after meals" If you're one of them..this post is for you.

Chew on fennel seeds after meals. Sip some water immediately after this. You'll notice that the urge to eat sweets is no longer there.

Fennel is a mouth-freshener which is usually consumed in Indian homes after meals. However if it's salted or roasted it won't beat your sweet craving. So make sure it's raw and unsalted.
