10-year-old Anant Jethale was diagnosed with Wilson’s Disease, a rare genetic disorder leading to copper accumulation in the vital organs, like liver, brain and eyes.
Doctors from his hometown of Jalgaon recommended a liver transplant as the only viable treatment option.
Seeking further expertise, Anant's family consulted Dr Aniket Deshmukh, Consultant, Paediatric Hepatology, Nanavati Max Hospital.
After conducting a comprehensive evaluation of the disease's progression and nature, Dr Deshmukh initiated aggressive medical management, chelation therapy and advanced ICU care.
Anant responded positively to the treatment regimen and recovered fully from Wilson’s Disease without undergoing a transplant.
Anant’s case highlights the importance of early diagnosis and timely medical intervention at tertiary care centres for young patients with Liver Failure.
