The American College of Physicians (ACP) has international presence through its chapters in Brazil, Canada, Central America, Chile, Japan, Mexico, Saudi Arabia, Southeast Asia, Columbia and Venezuela. The India Chapter is the 16th International Chapter and was launched on 1 January, 2015. The ACP India Chapter through its activities and engagement will help ACP achieve its mission which is to enhance the quality and effectiveness of healthcare by fostering excellence and professionalism in the practice of internal medicine. ACP is an organization of internists - physician specialists who apply scientific knowledge and clinical expertise to the diagnosis, treatment, and compassionate care of adults across the spectrum from health to complex illness. With 141,000 members consisting of internists, internal medicine subspecialists, residents, fellows, and medical students, ACP is the largest medical-specialty society in the world. Almost 12,000 members reside outside the United States. ACP is focused on advancing the science through its publications, in particular the Annals of Internal Medicine, setting clinical standards, advocacy efforts for better healthcare in the U.S., educational programs such as meetings at the national and chapter levels, web and print based materials, in particular, the Medical Knowledge Self-Assessment Program (MKSAP).
