🌼 Paryushan Parna – A Sacred Transition
Fasting during Paryushan is not just about abstaining from food—it’s about cleansing the body, mind, and spirit.
The way we break this fast, or Parna, carries equal importance.
Here’s how to honour your body as you move from fasting to nourishment:
✨ Begin with ghee or grated coconut – these soothe and prepare your gut gently, symbolising purity and grounding.
✨ Choose an easy-to-digest, balanced meal like poha with moong or jowar roti with pumpkin raita. Light, sattvic foods help the body reawaken its digestive fire without burdening it.
✨ Support your joints and strength with a mix of sunth (dry ginger), pepper, and jaggery—a traditional blend to restore warmth and energy.
✨ Avoid milk or tea immediately after breaking the fast; give your gut an hour before reintroducing heavier foods.
✨ Refrain from sugary drinks like jaggery water or nimbu paani—they may seem refreshing but can weaken your system and lead to fatigue later.
🙏 Breaking a fast is not just about filling the stomach. It’s about gently guiding the body back to balance—with respect, patience, and mindfulness.
This Parna, let your choices reflect gratitude for the strength your body showed through the fast.
🌿 Fasting purifies. Parna sanctifies.
