When We Let Go

Falling in love with & the books that come with subscription.

Over the weekend, I devoured Rochelle B. Weinstein's "When We Let Go," an emotionally rich novel that tell a compelling story of love and loss. Weinstein, a USA Today and Amazon bestselling author, uses accessible language to explore mother-daughter and sisterly relationships.
The novel tackles significant questions about identity, resilience, and the nature of love. It explores themes such as the importance of dreams, the power of positive thinking, and the virtue of patience. Weinstein invites readers to reflect on who we are without our dreams and how our hearts can expand to include new love and relationships despite past hurts.
For anyone grappling with personal loss, whether it be the death of a loved one, the end of a relationship, or a crisis of self-confidence, "When We Let Go" offers a beacon of hope. Weinstein's narrative is a testament to the strength of the human spirit and the capacity to rediscover love. This touching and inspiring story is a must-read for anyone seeking solace and inspiration.

A perfect 5 star from my side to this book!

I saw a group of school kids pointing at this cafe and while on their education walk. I was curious but the cold air killed my enthu soon enough.
After sometime the sitting below the green window was the only spot remaining with sunlight. I waited nearby and grab the chair as soon as someone left.
Ordered myself a Belgium hot chocolate and then while clicking the picture of my hot chocolate, I saw the little neck noose on the menu. Menu also said "Here you sometimes keep on hanging around". Funny Right!
I was tempted to try some Belgium Beer while enjoying the last few mins of Sun just before my dark secrets of Ghent walking tour was scheduled.

And guess what? The first stop on our walk was this cafe! The white wall is where people were hanged alive for offence as small as gossiping. They were left there for days before being thrown out of the town.

Huh..I definitely choose a nice place to enjoy some Hot Chocolate & Belgium Beer.

If you wanna offend the locals in Belgium, order Fries and call them French Fries!!!
Apparently, like waffles, Fries also belong to Belgium. French invaders took it from Belgium along with many other things.

I usually avoid watching a movie if I’ve read the book, and vice versa. However, I picked up Elizabeth Gilbert's Eat, Pray, Love even after watching the movie many times. I must say, the book is much better than the movie. Gilbert's writing style is wonderful, and she has a great love for languages and words. She brings magic to the places she visits and the stories she tells. Because of her, I now have a favorite fountain and gelato place in Rome. I believe every woman in her 30s can relate to her book. Her writing feels like talking to an old friend and hearing her adventures. The book is both beautiful and funny. I highly recommend it and give it a perfect score.

"The Perfect Murder" is a collection of mystery short stories curated for those who enjoy quick yet engaging reads. This anthology isn't limited to the works of Ruskin Bond but includes contributions from several prominent writers, offering a diverse range of styles and narratives within the mystery genre.

The book is perfect for a day or two of reading, or to accompany you on a long journey. The stories are designed to captivate and keep you guessing, a hallmark of any good mystery.

As a fan of Ruskin Bond, I was initially drawn to this book, expecting a collection of his works. Bond's writing is known for its simplicity and the vivid imagery it creates, which is particularly appealing to readers who appreciate straightforward yet evocative storytelling. His ability to paint perfect pictures with simple vocabulary is a joy to experience. However, I was somewhat disappointed to find that this collection included stories by various other authors whose styles didn't always align with my tastes. Some narratives felt overly complex and too distinctly "English" for my preference.

Despite this, I found the foreword by Ruskin Bond himself to be a delightful highlight. His introduction is beautifully written, setting the tone for the collection and providing insight into his perspective on the mystery genre.

Overall, The Perfect Murder is a mixed bag, with some stories resonating more than others. While it might not fully satisfy those expecting a pure Ruskin Bond experience, it still offers a compelling collection for mystery enthusiasts.

"The Servant With One Talent: Five Success Principles From The Greatest Parable Ever Told" by Michael Ivanov.

I stumbled upon this book by chance on Kindle Unlimited, and it immediately captivated me during my travels across Belgium. I found myself reading it in parks, trains, buses—anywhere I could steal a spare 15 minutes. Despite its modest length of fewer than 200 pages, the book delivers profound life lessons akin to those found in an encyclopedia.

Recently, I've noticed that whenever I'm in need of guidance or a sign, it somehow appears before me. This phenomenon isn't unique to me; it happens to everyone, although some may overlook these cues while navigating the routines of daily life. I believe this book emerged from such a desire for guidance. Consequently, I wasn't surprised to learn that the author paused work on another book to prioritize this one.

The narrative centers around three main characters and imparts five key principles, which I'll outline here. However, I strongly advise delving into the book for a deeper understanding of the context:

1. To each, according to his abilities.
2. A talent buried is a talent lost.
3. Do not concern yourself with your neighbor's wages
4. The time is now.
5. To those who have, much more will be given, from those who have not, what little they have will be taken from them.
Despite the weightiness of its message, the author's accessible language and engaging storytelling style make for an effortless and enjoyable read. I wholeheartedly award it a 5-star rating.

The cafe culture in Europe is just 😍 . While walking around in Utrecht there were so many cafes I wanted to go but the urge to check out the next one kept us walking. Yes ! Us!! Welcome my bestie/kiddo to the coffee club ❤️ She is still a Chai person but after moving to Netherlands she has developed a taste for coffee & we explored a new cafe every single day of our trip together!
Ah..and also in the picture is Banana bread... Something we used to relish at Starbucks during our Powai days.

Since the dutch cuisine is not interesting at all, I looked for comfort in the known yet unknown chinese cuisine.
This Sichuan restaurant was full of flavours & surprises.
We ordered the special Chili Chicken & it was not at all like the chili chicken I had till date. It was super crispy with sauted onions & chilies, loads of them(not spicy though)!! Yummy.. The traditional fried rice had special pickled radish in it which gave it a tangy flavour in every bite. Also, tried the local and it was okay.
A little pricey but worth the huge portions they serve.
