Liver Healthcare & Wellness Foundation, Mumbai is a voluntary Non Governmental Organization registered under the Bombay Public Trust Act 1950, founded on 6 th April 2016 by group of doctors and social enthusiasts. Liver being a forgiving organ, it will continue to work even if significantly damaged by scarring ( Fibrosis ). Liver disease is a therefore A SILENT KILLER, you don’t know you have it, until it is too late. Being an invisible organ, it is easily ignored, unlike eyes, ears, teeth, joints etc, where symptoms are visible. Viral Hepatitis B, C, Alcohol related liver disease and Non Alcohol fatty liver disease being the commonest causes of Silent Liver disease, the burden continues to rise resulting in serious and life threatening complications like Cirrhosis and Liver cancer.

The awareness camp was conducted by Liver Healthcare and wellness foundation at Kandivali Police Station. 100 were offered free screening test for Hepatitis B and C. A talk was given by Dr Ankur Shah on organ donation. 27 people signed up for organ donation after the talk. Also, educational material provided to protect from food and water-borne diseases.

Liver Healthcare and Wellness Foundation founded by Dr. Jayshri Shah and Dr. Ankur Shah (80G granted and registered NGO with charity commissioner) has been active for 1.5yrs.
We have been working on 3 projects to raise public awareness on organ donation, early detection of silent liver disease particularly fatty liver, hepatitis B, C and providing education on food and water hygiene.
We have conducted more than 20 programs in various parts of Mumbai city, either in hospitals addressing senior citizens, orphanage, domestic help and drivers of housing societies, Police staff, paramedical workers in the hospital.
We have done awareness talks and distributed educational material besides providing free screening for Hepatitis B and C to over 2300 people.
We have also conducted a survey on whether the general public follows basic principles of food and water hygiene. Entire project report with testimonials are available on our website www.liverhealthcarefoundation.org
