Padmasana

Padmasana yoga can be practiced by one and all. It is also known as the lotus pose. When you perform this pose, it appears like the shape of a lotus. This asana is also sometimes termed as ‘Kamalasana’. This is the first among the four poses prescribed for Japa and Dhyana. This asana is said to be the best choice for those who seek contemplation.

Although Padmasana looks simple and easy-to-do, it gives you numerous benefits.

* It helps in improving your concentration levels.

* It helps in calming the brain.

* It gives a good stretch to your spine, thighs, ankles and calf muscles.

* It is traditionally said that Padmasana is the destroyer of all diseases and also awakens Kundalini.

* It relieves you of sciatica pain and improves your body posture.

* It helps in enhancing blood circulation in your body and improves digestion.

Step to follow:

1) Sit on the ground by spreading the legs forward.

2) Place the right foot on the left thigh and the left foot on the right thigh.

3) Place the hands on the knee joints.

4) Keep the body, back and head erect.

5) Eyes should be closed.

NETRA YOGA

Yoga provides a series of exercises that improves the functioning of the eyes and helps to overcome various eye-related problems, such as Myopia or short sightedness, Hypermetropia or long sightedness and various other eye-related disorders.

In the present day world about 35 % of the population suffers from myopia and hypermetropia in varying degrees. These disorders are usually overcome using powerful glasses and lenses which correct the refractive errors of the eye. However one needs to understand that glasses never cure bad eyesight. In fact, using powerful glasses can worsen eye problems. Therefore, one should use glasses only when absolutely necessary.

Other than a few diseases such as cataract and glaucoma which occur due to bacterial infections, many eye disorders are related to the malfunctioning of the ocular muscles caused by chronic mental and emotional tensions. Yoga techniques help to alleviate various disorders related to defects in the eye muscles such as myopia and hypermetropia.

Practicing these exercises regularly for a few months can go a long way in facilitating the normal functioning of our eyes.

Therapeutic yoga techniques include exercises such as:

• Palming
• Blinking
• Changing focus of eyes from side to side simultaneously
• Changing focus of eyes forward and sideways simultaneously
• Rotational viewing
• Viewing upwards and down simultaneously
• Preliminary nose tip gazing
• Near and distant viewing

Note:
Before starting these exercises, it is always recommended to splash your eyes with cold water a few times. Remember to keep the head and spine straight throughout the exercises.

One must be wondering what is with this "Yoga" and that every other person keeps raving about it. You see some of the famous celebrities like Madonna, Oprah, Shilpa who have made this even more popular. The result that has come out of yoga is tremendous. It has spread through the word of mouth as well as by knowing the beneficial uses it has given the world.
Now everyone wants to join the brigade and reap its fruits. It helps you in many ways and would help you clear your problems which made you suffer for years together. The combination of different yoga poses would be very helpful in the long run. It is a stress reliever as some of the techniques helps you to free your mind and soul. The concentration and level of the pose also helps.
