Diwali Festival Celebration at Arushi – The Learning Centre

We began our Diwali celebrations by sharing with the children the meaning and importance of this beautiful festival of lights.

The fun continued with exciting games like Touch and Feel, Matching, Flame Pasting, and a quick challenge to draw as many circles in just 10 seconds falling from laxmi pot as coins !

Our little artists then created colourful OHP rangolis, filling them with bright hues and endless creativity.

To end the day, children brought snacks from home, shared them with their friends, and enjoyed a joyful feast together.

It was truly a day filled with fun, learning, colours, and happiness!

Diwali vibes at Arushi – The Learning Centre were simply amazing!
The students and teachers organised a sale showcasing products from their garden and festive items for Diwali.
Out of the garden came a table groaning under the weight of the jar of sumptuous Blue Pea Flower Tea, boxes of dehydrated Tulsi leaves and containers of mixed fresh herbs. The cooling tea sold so fast, the students had to brew the tea twice more before the end of the sale.
The Pre-Vocational Class students under guidance of their teachers truly outdid themselves with their festive Diwali items – the painted diyas glowed with love, the colourful potli bags were bursting with festive spirit, and the vibrant ready to use stencil rangolis added an extra dose of magic! Each piece was a testament to the students’ hard work and creativity.
The products flew of the table at a hard to keep up pace.
We can truly boast our sale was a huge hit!
Kudos to our talented students and supportive teachers and parents team for spreading joy and doing their little bit to make this Diwali so special!

Painting Competition on the theme of Swachh Bharat

The Department of Telecommunication (DoT), Ministry of Communications, Government of India (GoI) in collaboration with Arushi - The Learning Centre organized a poster making competition on the theme of Swachh Bharat. Students from Arushi – The Learning Centre and REACH Centre for Remedial Education participated with enthusiasm, showcasing their talent and creativity.

We convey our thanks to Mr Asheesh Pathak, Addl. Director General Telecom Mumbai LSA, Mr Arvind Singh- Director Mr Ajay Kamal, Deputy Director General
Mr Sachin Phad, Assistant Director for their opportunity and support in organising this event.

Dr. Chandrashekhar Gawali, Head, Department of Human Development for taking time to evaluate and identify the winners from all the participants.

A new initiative by Arushi - The Learning Centre under the GHARA project : 'The Inclusive Table'.
This initiative provides an opportunity for our students in the Pre Voc group to practice culinary skills while also enhancing their hospitality skills.
The first menu kept simple offered Vegetable Cheese Sandwich and Sheera.
After the success of the first menu the students are raring to go and are in prep mode for the next "The inclusive Table' menu. Orders for which are scheduled to be delivered on September 25,2025.

Raksha Bandhan Celebration at Arushi – The Learning Center
This Raksha Bandhan, the spirit of love and bonding between brothers and sisters came alive at Arushi The Learning Center!
Our talented boys poured their creativity into heartfelt greeting cards, while the girls beautifully crafted handmade rakhis, each tied with love and care.
Adding to the festive spirit, our dedicated teachers presented a thoughtful drama showcasing the true meaning of Raksha Bandhan – the promise of protection, respect, and unconditional love.
The entire celebration was filled with joy, learning, and togetherness, reminding us that festivals are not just traditions, but beautiful ways to express emotions and strengthen bonds.

Celebrating the True Meaning of Friendship
At Arushi – The Learning Centre, we celebrated Friendship Day with warmth, learning, and creativity!
Our dedicated teachers performed a thoughtful skit, sharing a beautiful message on how to be a true friend and how to nurture bonds with kindness and respect.
Meanwhile, our amazing Prevocational Class students created vibrant friendship bands and set up a stall, learning valuable buying and selling skills through real-life experience.
It was a friend filled joyful day

Parents’ Day Celebration | July 29, 2025
We celebrated the love and support of our amazing parents, grandparents and caretakers!
Our students made greeting cards to express their love and gratitude.

Every card was a small reminder of how much parents, grandparents and caretakers mean to us — guiding, caring, and loving us unconditionally.

On July 25, 2025, Arushi - The Learning Centre, Department of Special Education, SNDT Women's University, in collaboration with Leelabai Thackersey College of Nursing, SNDT Women's University, organized a Tetanus (TT) vaccination camp at the Juhu Campus.

The camp was conducted smoothly and efficiently by the medical team from nanavati max hospital

We sincerely thank the entire team for their professionalism, care, and commitment to community well-being.

48 participants, which include Arushi-LC students parents/caregivers, Arushi-LC staff & faculty, along with volunteers & non-teaching support staff benefited from this camp.
