All of us practice making clients do sit-to-stand in neurophysiotherapy. But do we also make the clients practice stand-to-sit ?
Stand-to-sits in midrange promote eccentric control of hip musculature, help in selective motor control thereby reducing effects of mass extension(all or none) commonly observed in clients having dystonia. It also helps our clients and their caregivers to do transfers efficiently and safely.
P.S-Having a dupatta at the waist for the client(especially an adult) to hold on to,is underrated.

Keeping a record of objective measurements of alignment and r.o.m is helpful in treatment planning, gauging the effectiveness of therapy sessions, and communication with parents as well as orthopedic surgeons .Use of technology further makes the process easy, albeit it being the need of the hour.
This is how i like to keep a record using easy-to-use,free apps.
As Niels Bohr would say,
'Nothing exists until it is measured'

It is important to train sustained contractions of quadriceps against gravity in closed chain. It is crucial to ensure good alignment of the knee in stance phase.Tying a theraband to a fixed point leaves both hands of yours free to control foot and knee alignment.
P.S-Music composed and played by me.To avoid plagiarism.

As seen from images, the hamstrings are allowing for good length as long sitting is possible without too much postr. pelvic tilt. The angle of anteversion is higher than 45 ° for both hips, right more than left.so the cause of intr rotation seems more of the hip anteversion and not so much adductor tightness.
P.s-Hips are anteverted by birth and glutes and hip abductor activation reduces the angle to about 45° when tested in prone. An important aspect to think about when planning the treatment session.
Forum open for discussion.
Stay tuned for more trivia.
