Give Blood, Give Hope: DFY Leads Pan-India Blood Donation Drive to Save Lives

Under the theme “Give Blood, Give Hope – Together, We Save Lives,” Doctors For You (DFY) organized a nationwide blood donation drive on the occasion of World Blood Donor Day.

One such impactful camp was held at Meena Devi Jindal MIRC in association with the Red Cross, where around 22 volunteers—including DFY staff and MIRC doctors—donated blood to support the cause. DFY also conducted awareness campaigns across its centres to encourage public participation in voluntary blood donation. The team’s dedication was recognized and appreciated by officials.

As heatwaves become more frequent and intense, protecting those working in outdoor environments is more important than ever. An awareness session was organized for 40 L&T field site incharges at Delhi Aerocity, with support from HCLFoundation.

The session focused on:
🔸 Understanding the dangers of extreme heat
🔸 Identifying early signs of heat-related illnesses
🔸 Learning simple but critical first-aid and prevention measures

To reinforce the learning, workers received materials covering heat stress, alcohol risks, hygiene, sanitation, and prevention. (Oral Rehydration Solution) packets were also distributed to promote hydration and help prevent heat-related dehydration.

The interactive session encouraged active participation, with workers asking insightful questions and sharing positive feedback. Many expressed that they now feel better equipped to handle extreme heat at the workplace.

This initiative reflects a collective effort by HCLFoundation to promote occupational health and build climate resilience among frontline workers.

Our Story

Doctors For You (DFY) started as a platelet donation and awareness drive to manage the outbreak of Dengue, Leptospirosis and Malaria in Mumbai in 2007. Over the past 12 years, DFY has established itself as an organization with technical capacity to respond to different types of humanitarian crisis. The organization has been working in the field of general healthcare services, public health , emergency response and rehabilitation projects, training and capacity building programme and research studies . This team of committed individuals has reached out to communities affected by extreme poverty, disasters, neglect and years of injustice. Climate change has made the things much more challenging and we at Doctors for You are committed to realise overall development of communities whatever it may take. Currently DFY is working across 14 states in India. Organization has recently started a National Level warehouse exclusively for Disaster relief and Response across India situated at Patna, Bihar. The organization has vast experience of working in disasters and the major focus is to address the medical and public health and Nutritional needs of the affected population which includes provision of medical services; working on Sexual and Reproductive Health, Maternal, Infant and Child Health, IYCF in Emergency WATSAN Services and Nutritional Health etc. The functioning of Doctors For You is guided by a set of ethical values and guidelines. DFY functions on humanitarian principles of humanity, impartiality, and neutrality. It offers services and assistance to people based on need, irrespective of race, class, caste, religion and gender.
