Adult vaccinations are necessary for

- Prevention of serious effects of common diseases that effect elderly
- Boosting immunity as childhood vaccination effect wears off with time

The following are recommended vaccinations for adults

- Influenza (flu) vaccine- above 60 yrs all adults should take yearly.
- Shingles vaccine: Adults aged 50 and above need to get a shingles vaccine to prevent the very painful herpes.
- HPV vaccine: Adults up to 26 years and in some cases upto 45 years can take it
- Hepatitis B vaccine: For adults up to 59 years old.
- Td (tetanus and diphtheria) or Tdap (tetanus, diphtheria, and whooping cough) - MMR vaccine*: Adults who do not immunity need this
