Nowrosjee Wadia Maternity Hospital (NWMH) is a pioneering Maternity and Gynecological Hospital in Mu H.E. Leslie Wilson. Dr. M.V. Mehta was the first Hon.

Nowrosjee Wadia Maternity Hospital (NWMH) is a Maternity and Gynecological Hospital, meant exclusively for the purpose of providing comprehensive healthcare to women and neonates with a variety of health problems in an affordable manner. It symbolizes the philanthropic tradition of the Wadia family. The foundation stone of the hospital erected in the memory of Sir Nowrosjee Nusserwanjee Wadia by his two sons, the late Sir Cusrow N Wadia and the late Sir Ness N Wadia, in a joint venture with the State Government and the then Bombay Municipality, was laid on 9th June, 1925. The 120 bedded hospital was designed by Architect George Wittet, who was also the designer of the Gateway of India. NWMH was declared open on 13th December, 1926, the 27th death anniversary of Sir Nowrosjee Nusserwanjee Wadia by the then Governor of Bombay, Mr. Principal Medical Officer of the hospital. From the day of inception, NWMH started providing training to undergraduate students from G.S. Medical College and Grant Medical College. Known for its academic excellence, many senior Obstetricians and Gynecologists of today have been trained at NWMH. NWMH has been providing charitable services for past 89 years to women in need of Obstetric & Gynecological care. It has been serving not only as community clinic for common health needs of women but also as a tertiary referral center, where complex cases are referred from various parts of the country for diagnostic workup and specialized treatments, especially in the case of high risk pregnancies. Currently the 300 bedded NWMH is manned by an expert team comprising of more than 20 specialists, providing care for over 100,000 women on an outpatient basis, and around 10,000 women as inpatients annually.
