Do you feel we are forgetting the importance of a community?

17/10/2025

Being a therapist comes with a lot of responsibility. It’s something that you learn when you are practising. These are not the things that can be spelled out; you just know them

”DO NO HARM” is the perspective that we have to operate from and it’s not always easy, but a lot of stuff can still be avoided.

Do you think it’s harmful?

10/10/2025

In last few years, people have been seeing therapists a lot more than we ever did. As good as that is, I think somewhere we are also getting rid of the responsibility of just being human to another person, and I don’t say that it comes from a place of malice of not wanting to help, sometimes people want to help, but they are extremely conscious, extremely anxious that they might do something wrong, but this won’t do. We are a society, a community, we need each other. We should be able to take care of each other. At least to some extent. Presence of another human being is very strong. Never underestimate that just someone being there, witnessing your pain, acknowledging your heart in itself is a big support. I don’t mean that you go and try to fix someone situation. No just be there. Just acknowledge the hurt the pain. Let them know that someone sees them. That’s it.

I have seen plenty of people naming and shaming decent men with regular human like flaws while staying quiet on Men who are ACTUALLY harming the whole family. Enabling men with power is easy and taking out your frustration on the harmless men, easier.
Men scanning other men and bullying the ones who seem weaker is a sad thing and enraging thing to witness. This kind of men don't fit in with fellow men or even women. They're confused on what any gender is expecting from them and keep failing at connecting with both.

Talking about men's mental health and their struggles has always been a difficult choice as it ends up attracting the misogynists but here I am, trying to put this out for those men, who will know immediately that I'm talking to them.

It is tough.
Yes your pain is valid too
I know you are trying, really hard
I wish you didn't feel so lonely
I wish you find a safe community where you are allowed to be just a person.
I wish you could talk about your pain without comparing it to others
You get to be weak
But in the end,
You have to start making the right choices for yourself; create a path instead of following others.
Dare to walk alone, their are many like you, waiting for someone to start the walk 💜

Emotionally Focused Therapy teaches you how to make you feel held with words 💕
The gentleness and sensitivity contradicted a little with my Transactional Analysis training which while being cognitive in nature, was confrontational and plainly put, good at calling out BS.
But EFT feels like... supporting a broken wing of an injured butterfly 🦋 that's the best I can describe.

So happy to have included it in my practice and I could see the effect IMMEDIATELY. It's been helping me with people with extra delicate nervous system and it has been a boon overall. I'm going deep and deeper into it and loving every moment of it 😇✨

Completed a trauma-informed training that went beyond textbook knowledge.
This experience deepened my understanding of how trauma shapes nervous system responses, attachment patterns, and interpersonal dynamics.
I loved the non pathological lens where diagnosis is clutter of symptoms and symptoms are just coping strategies 💜
Trauma is painfully common. Discounting and minimizing it's existence just prolongs suffering.

What we have growing up has a huge impact on the kind of person we will become. I see people beating themselves up for not being as successful as their friends and when I ask more, turns out these two are from completely different worlds.
Wealth is the most common factor but not the only one. How you were emotionally nurtured, what kind of horrors you were exposed to growing up, all of that matters a lot. Even if you think it did not affect you that much. It's still there.
It's okay to go easy on yourself...
What you have is enough...
Even if it sometimes doesn't feel like it. Greed is a void which will never fill up, that's just what its nature is.
You did well, you're doing well ❤️‍🩹
Take care.
Feel free to DM me for consultation.

Last week Urja Trust organised a panel discussion and started a conversation on social justice in the field of mental health and how it affects the marginalized communities in Indian society.
I specifically talked about struggles of marginalized castes and how our therapists at present are not trained to handle a community with the sensitivity it needs to be handled. The trauma of caste, bullying, suicides, institutional discrimination, workplace discrimination and how it is connected with caste. It affects our lives but we don't openly talk about it.
Other panelists also raised important questions like whose responsibility is mental health actually? Should we just depend on mental health professionals or step up and provide community support to each other too.

It was a beautiful conversation and I'm overwhelmed by the response it got. We need to start talking about caste affirmative/sensitive therapy and make it a norm so people can feel confident and comfortable to consult therapists without any hesitation.
