Basic DIET Rules to follow For a GREAT Skin.
Wellness and lasting beauty comes from within. Healthy body translates into a healthy, great looking skin. Similarly eating right food can help to restore your facial tone and stimulate circulation for a natural healthy glow. It is very necessary to prevent dry tight, flaky and wrinkled skin. Remember that most skin problems start with the kidneys. They require constant cleansing. Also given the high pollution levels and active lives that most of us lead, our skin gets easily dehydrated often leading to wrinkling, cracking, eczema, irritation and scaling.Therefore,
- Try to drink at least 10-12 glasses of water everyday. As most of the people having wrong food habits which reduces their digestive capabilities.
- Include food that is easy to digestible like Steamed food instead of fried, moong dal instead of whole dals. Eat light digestible foods like cooked zucchini, squash, pumpkin, steamed salad, fruits, moong dal, khichree, corn, chickpea flour, and oatmeal etc.
- Have a probiotic everyday like yogurt, dahi, buttermilk or include one fermented food like dosa, idli, dhokla in your diet everyday.
- Try not to have non vegetarian food more than twice a week as it is a little difficult to digest.
To keep your skin healthy, avoid spicy, oily and fried food . They might weaken the digestive system and lead to an upset stomach.
- Eat herbs that have cooling effects on the body such as fennel, coriander seeds.
- Exposure to heat and sun, drinking too much tea, coffee, and alcohol, and smoking also aggravate pitta which mess up your skin, so be careful.
Avoid Chocolates, sweets and other fatty and sugary foods.
- Avoid junk food, especially foods fried in re used oils like chips etc add to acne problems.
Include more antioxidants in your diet in the form of fresh seasonal and colourful fruits and vegetables every day. Have atleast two to three kinds of fruits per day.
- Add a salad or vegetable dish to two meals and in 3 weeks you will notice the difference - more energy, a lighter and younger skin that breathes happy.
- Increase intake of vitamin C in form of oranges, strawberries, kiwi, amla, guava, sweet potatoes which helps to neutralize the free radicals from the body.
- Eat Whole grains, instead of processed carbohydrates, can improve your complexion. Processed (or refined) flours can cause an insulin spike, which in turn can encourage acne. You can include Brown rice, Whole wheat Atta, Multi grain bread.
- Eating the right fats is imperative for a great looking skin. So choose from the below: Sunflower seeds, Pumpkin seeds, Walnuts Almonds.
Include good quality proteins like milk and milk products.
- Sometimes some supplements helps to prevent damaged skin like vitamin C, E, Glutathione, collagen which brings glow on your face.
