( ) has a long, successful history of helping women achieve a that might otherwise be impossible.

With AI, either your male partner or a male donor provides s***m that is then inserted into your uterus after you have released a ripe egg. The procedure is simple and performed in a .
may suggest that you take , however, to increase the chances of producing a viable egg. Or, they time the AI for the correct point in your cycle, when you release a single egg.

~ Reasons why artificial insemination may be the best way for you to get :

1. You or your partner have trouble with in*******se
Although most people spend their lives imagining that they would conceive a child through s*xual in*******se, that is not always possible. Even though s*xual expression and intimacy are essential parts of an individual’s life and a couple’s relationship, not everyone can have penetrative in*******se.
Some women have a condition called , wherein their va**nal muscles contract and spasm any time an object (even a tampon) attempts pe*******on. Vaginismus makes in*******se extremely painful at best and impossible at worst.
Men may also have conditions that do not allow penetrative s*x, such as (ED). Or, he may have or another condition that prevents s***m from passing from his te**es into the va**na.
If your male partner produces s***m, AI may help you conceive a baby that shares both of your DNA.

2. One or both of you have fertility problems
If your male partner produces too few s***m, no s***m at all, or abnormal s***m, you may need to use a s***m donor. A baby born from donor s***m will not share your partner’s DNA (unless the donor is a blood-related family member), but the baby will have your DNA.
S***m donors need to undergo tests to be sure they are healthy and have enough normal s***m. You can choose an anonymous donor from a s***m bank. If you decide to have a family member or friend donate, they must also go through the screening process.
Women whose male partners produce plenty of normal s***m may still need AI. If you have , excessive cervical mucus, or a s***m allergy, AI gives you the best chance of conception.

3. You do not have a male partner
A single woman may choose AI when it is time to conceive a child. Again, you can use either donated s***m or ask a friend or family member to go through the screening process and donate for you.

Just as all acts of in*******se do not result in a child, neither does AI. Pregnancies per cycle with AI range from 5 to 15 percent. If you do not conceive after a few cycles, may recommend moving on to ( ).

Top 3 Questions a Receives:

1. Will I need to take time off work to do IVF?
IVF and other often require several visits to meet with your fertility specialist and team. These visits can range from daily to monthly, depending on where you are in the process. Some offers early hours and frequent appointment time slots to help meet your lifestyle needs.
As for IVF procedures, most are minimally invasive and performed on an outpatient basis. While it is recommended that patients not over-exert themselves, most patients return to work within a day or two following an or .

2. Am I too old for IVF?
Among women older than 35, the success of IVF treatments may diminish since with age comes declining ovarian reserve and egg quality. However, advanced ART regimes, such as PGS testing, may expedite treatment and improve the likelihood of a successful pregnancy by identifying and replacing only viable embryos in the uterus. Women who pursue these treatments have implantation rates (pregnancy per embryo transferred) comparable to younger women since the biggest barrier to success is often the identification of a healthy embryo.
Similarly, if an older woman uses a donor egg, she has a high likelihood of success since younger eggs are more likely to be viable, and the age of the uterus does not significantly alter pregnancy rates. Women can successfully conceive a child through IVF treatment up to the age of 50 years using donated eggs. They then have the same chances of success as those women younger than 35.

3. How do I preserve my fertility for the future?
A growing number of women are choosing to preserve their fertility for the future. By harvesting eggs when they are still in their early-to-mid thirties, they improve their chances of having a biological child in the future. Men also have the option to freeze s***m for the future.
For those individuals who may be undergoing cancer treatment, fertility preservation is an important factor to consider. Time is of the essence for these patients, hence, you need to quickly start the fertility preservation process if you are recently diagnosed with cancer.

is a condition that occurs when your cells become resistant to the hormone . Insulin controls the level of sugar in the blood (glucose). When insulin is unable to do its job, blood sugar increases to unsafe levels.

Insulin resistance is a relatively common cause of female , particularly among people who are . Treating insulin resistance can often make it possible for a woman to get , although sometimes additional fertility treatments are necessary.

~ What insulin resistance does to your fertility?

- Insulin resistance wreaks havoc on your ovaries
Insulin is a hormone. Ovaries are covered with insulin receptors. Healthy insulin levels are essential to ovarian health.
High circulating levels of insulin and lipids (fat) will affect your other reproductive hormones, consequently, delaying or even suppressing . This can lead to irregular cycles. A classic example of the effect of insulin resistance on ovaries is .

- Accelerates ovarian ageing
More advanced insulin resistance may lead to . Uncontrolled Type 2 can cause small blood vessel damage in your ovaries. This is bound to reduce healthy ovarian blood circulation. Reduced blood flow is a feature of ageing ovaries, and is likely one of the reasons for declining egg quality.
As a result of the damaging effects of insulin resistance, women with Type 2 diabetes are more likely to enter earlier.

- Increases risk of miscarriage
Research has linked insulin resistance with an increased risk of early . And women who had three or more pregnancy losses are likely to have insulin resistance diagnoses.

- Insulin resistance and IVF
Insulin resistance is also a hurdle when trying . Studies show that IVF is not enough to avoid the harm caused by insulin resistance. Consequently, women with insulin resistance are more likely to lose after IVF treatments. Miscarriage is a traumatic experience. And it is especially distressing for women who achieve pregnancy through highly invasive, expensive, and stressful treatments.
Another important aspect, IVF patients with insulin resistance may require higher doses of gonadotropins and have a higher risk of developing .

Poor is one of the leading causes of in women. The lack of good nutrition can make a person either or , and it can cause organs to function improperly.

Maintaining a healthy body weight is crucial to fertility, as being overweight or underweight has a detrimental effect on your reproductive system. and are just two of the factors that can impair in women.

~ How Can Nutrition Affect Fertility?
Poor exercise habits and are among the leading causes of nutrition. If you are planning to start a family, you should pay attention to the following nutritional factors:

- Insufficient Caloric Intake
Crash dieting and severe food restrictions (such as a that is too low in fat consumption) can lead to imbalances, which researchers have discovered have a profound impairment upon reproductive functions. One example of this is suppressed ovulation.
Preventing ovulation in this scenario is nature’s way of preventing in a malnourished woman. For a pregnancy to progress, proper nourishment is very important for the mother and baby.
Functional hypothalamic amenorrhea (FHA) is the condition behind 35 percent of cases in which adult women no longer have their monthly menstrual cycle. And without your monthly cycle, you will have difficulty getting .
Eating smaller meals throughout the day is advisable. Avoid the usual unhealthy suspects such as too much-saturated fat, high-fructose corn syrup, and alcohol.
A B-12 deficiency has been linked to early . Supplements with antioxidants have been shown to be effective in preventing and treating infertility.

- Excessive Exercise
While regular exercise can help with fertility, overdoing it can actually impede fertility. Excessive exercise leads to malnutrition because it forces the body to release stored nutrition to provide quick energy for exercise.
Strenuous exercises such as biking, jogging, and weight training for more than 4 hours a week, or aerobic exercise for more than 7 hours a week, have a negative impact on fertility. The body gets used to excessive exercise and adapts by storing food to burn rather than for reproduction.
The body thus loses its ability to utilize energy for other essential functions such as ovulation. So, if you do exercise while trying to get pregnant, keep it to a moderate level.

- Obesity
is a disruptor of female fertility. Obese women tend to have issues with their pituitary glands, and this can lead to menstrual dysfunction and infertility.

You need a healthy body to get pregnant. If you are curious as to whether nutrient deficiencies may be contributing to your struggles to conceive, contact Dr. Indira Hinduja today.

Here are five of the most common reasons you are not as you should:

1. You have PCOS (Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome)
is one of the most common (and misdiagnosed or overlooked) causes of for women. While there is much to be learned about PCOS, we do know that a combination/collaboration of insulin resistance and hormone imbalance contributes to weight gain, inability to lose weight, and the disruption of regular fertility cycles.
As a result, you may have lots of high-quality eggs waiting to mature in the ovaries, all of which are not getting the hormonal signal(s) they need to mature and release.

2. You are underweight and/or over-exercising
Do you have a history of eating disorders? Are you an extreme athlete? If so, you may need to moderate your fitness goals and schedule and return to a normal BMI (between 18.5 and 29), to resume ovulation.
The body can translate being or extreme exercise regimens as “we are starving and under duress.” It shuts off ovulation as a way to protect you and your potential baby.

3. You have low ovarian reserves
Some women are born with far fewer eggs than the norm and some women’s egg stores are damaged or depleted along the way. This is called low or and is caused by a variety of factors ranging from heredity, cancer treatments or other medical treatments/medications, and lifestyle choices.
We can establish an estimate of a woman’s ovarian reserves based on her medical history and symptoms, using AMH and FSH hormone testing, and performing an antral follicle count during a va**nal ultrasound.

4. Early menopause
You are only officially in when you have ceased menstruating for 12 consecutive months. All of the symptoms and signs of menopause before that point are considered or .
The average age of menopause is about 51 years old, and many women begin experiencing perimenopause in their late-30s and early- to mid-40s, depending on their bodies, and lifestyle. Some women, however, experience perimenopause and menopause significantly earlier than that and are considered to be in early menopause. Genetics is a factor as is cancer or the patient’s medical treatment history.

5. Hormone imbalance
There is a range of conditions that can cause a hormone imbalance that prevents ovulation. PCOS is an example, as are hormone imbalances linked to being or . Hormones can also go out of order for other reasons such as and other medical conditions, medication side effects, chronic stress, inflammation, etc.

typically involve medications that are essential to the treatment plan. These medications regulate hormones and increase the likelihood of conception. Depending on the specific medication, they may help induce , boost natural hormones, or improve s***m production.

are often crucial for successful fertility treatment, but crop up in media coverage and on social media from time to time. Let us debunk some myths circulating now, and set the record straight on fertility medication.

=> Myth #1: Using Fertility Medications Will Result in Twins (or even triplets)
While a handful of the medications used during fertility treatment are used to stimulate ovulation, the chances of having twins or triplets are relatively low. With and the use of a medication called Clomid or Letrozole, your doctor monitors you frequently to reduce the risk of multiples. As for , gonadotropins are used, which stimulate the production of multiple eggs at once, but this too is monitored and the doctor is able to control how many embryos are transferred into the uterus for possible conception.
It is possible to have multiples during fertility treatment, but your doctor follows your cycles closely to make sure that the risk is low.

=> Myth #2: Fertility Medications Cause
With the use of medications that alter hormones and induce ovulation, there has been some concern about the risks of , but there is no strong evidence to support this. The American Society of Reproductive Medicine (ASRM) has even reviewed several studies about cancer and reproductive medical treatment and found no reasonable evidence that fertility medications have any link to cancer in patients undergoing fertility treatment.
In the past, there have been a few studies that claimed there was a potential link between fertility medications and cancer, but these studies have had many limitations that could have interfered with the results, so while it is important to take all studies into consideration, there is not enough to go on with these studies to show any true link.

=> Myth 3: Fertility Medications Put You into Early
There is not a significant correlation between IVF treatment (including the medications used) and early .
This myth most likely stems from the fact that during IVF cycles, fertility medications are used to stimulate the ovaries to mature and release multiple eggs (an average of 10-15 during a cycle), when the body usually releases one egg during a natural cycle. This would make it seem that more eggs are used during a cycle, but in reality, your body naturally recruits 100s of follicles each month, but only one of the follicles will end up releasing an egg, while the others will be lost during that cycle, so ultimately patients are not “losing” more eggs from IVF than from their natural cycle.

=> Fertility Medications are Safe for You and Your Partner
While many of these myths resurface from time to time, fertility medications truly are safe and only used in circumstances where they are necessary. Undergoing IUI or IVF can feel a little overwhelming, but you do not have to be worried about any lasting negative effects from the medication involved.
