MGM New Bombay Hospital, Vashi

MGM New Bombay Hospital, Vashi M.G.M. New Bombay Hospital, Vashi is one of the most advanced multi-specialty tertiary care centers Shri Kamal Kishore Kadam with a futuristic vision.

The Mahatma Gandhi Mission Trust is the parent body of MGMIHS which was established in 1982 by Hon. Since inception, the Trust has focused on providing Health Care Services. The hospital was formed out of an idea of a young team of Engineers and Doctors from Nanded district. On 2nd October 1982, a team of young Engineers and Doctors from Nanded district set for a new journey, a journey that was focused at realizing a wider meaning of Healthcare, education, knowledge, humanity and existence. The team started its journey in a modest way by setting up a health care center at village Nila, 11 kms from Nanded. There were no health care and education facilities in this marginalized region; hence the newly started health care center was able to offer services to the village population and even to the patients from the adjoining regions. An apt way to celebrate Gandhi Jayanti, the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi and also a very thoughtful gesture of respect and gratitude to their father Shri Nanasaheb Kadam, a devout Gandhain; this was rather a beginning of a long, persistent and intense movement. Two months later, the desire to provide healthcare services and empower the people through education took a concrete shape in the form of Mahatma Gandhi Mission. The Mahatma Gandhi Mission New Bombay Hospital was inaugurated on 18th April 1993 by Hon’ble Shri. Sharad Pawar, former Chief Minister of Maharashtra, the Hospital has grown to become one of the great achievers in Navi Mumbai’s Health sector. The hospital was started with 150 beds. Today it has grown into a leading medical institute in the health care sector. It is designed with highest standard of medical facilities.

🌍❤️ World Heart Day 2025: The Vital Connection Between Stress, Hypertension, Endocrinology, and Heart Disease
📅 29th September

---

Every Beat of Your Heart Matters

Every beat of your heart matters, especially when it comes to understanding how stress, hormonal health, and blood pressure impact your cardiovascular system.

This World Heart Day, MGM New Bombay Hospital, Vashi, invites you to explore the crucial links between endocrinology, stress, hypertension, and heart disease — empowering you toward better heart health.

---

🫀 The Hidden Risks: Stress and Hypertension

Chronic stress is more than just an emotional burden; it triggers a cascade of hormonal responses that raise your heart rate and narrow your blood vessels. This temporary spike in blood pressure can evolve into long-term hypertension if stress is unmanaged.

Elevated blood pressure forces your heart to work harder, increasing the risk of heart failure, artery damage, and stroke.

Stress hormones such as cortisol and adrenaline also disrupt the body’s balance, negatively affecting blood sugar levels, inflammation, and lipid profiles — all critical factors for heart health. Managing stress is therefore a vital step in preventing and controlling hypertension and related cardiovascular conditions.

---

🧬 Endocrinology and Your Heart: The Hormonal Heartbeat

Your heart does not beat alone; a symphony of hormones from your endocrine system regulates it:

Thyroid hormones influence heart rate and cardiac output, with imbalances leading to arrhythmias or heart muscle weakening.

Insulin and blood sugar regulation are critical since diabetes elevates cardiovascular risk by damaging blood vessels and promoting inflammation.

Cortisol and aldosterone affect blood pressure through salt retention and vascular tone. Excess levels can cause hypertensive heart disease and contribute to heart muscle thickening and fibrosis.

Hormonal imbalances often contribute silently to heart disease development, emphasizing the need for integrated endocrine and cardiac care.

---

🔄 The Vicious Cycle: How These Factors Interact

Stress and hormonal imbalances can lead to or worsen hypertension.

Hypertension causes structural and functional changes in the heart, such as hypertrophy (thickening of heart muscle) and impaired pumping ability.

These heart changes increase risks for heart attacks, strokes, and heart failure.

Uncontrolled hypertension also damages artery walls, accelerating plaque buildup and reducing blood flow. When combined with diabetes or thyroid dysfunction, the risk multiplies — requiring vigilant monitoring and treatment.

---

✅ Practical Steps to Protect Your Heart This World Heart Day

Regular Monitoring: Check blood pressure, blood sugar, and hormone levels to catch imbalances early.

Manage Stress: Incorporate relaxation techniques like meditation, yoga, and deep breathing.

Healthy Lifestyle: Eat a balanced diet rich in fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and lean proteins; limit salt, sugar, and processed foods.

Stay Active: Aim for at least 30 minutes of moderate exercise most days.

Medication Adherence: Follow your physician’s guidance strictly to manage hypertension and endocrine disorders.

Annual Heart & Endocrine Checkups: Early detection and integrated care can prevent complications.
