Playing is one of the best ways to learn and to create awareness.

This month, as we celebrate International Women's Day, we saw our employees—our most trusted ambassadors—bring this to life. By gamifying an important conversation around women’s health with a twist on Snakes & Ladders, we made every move on the board reflect real-life journeys—from menarche to menopause—encourage women to prioritise their health, break myths, and make informed decisions.

As part of our Women’s Health campaign, this internal initiative brought people together, creating a space for connection, learning, and shared reflection.

What started as a game became so much more—proving that awareness can be fun, engaging, and truly impactful when driven by people.

Gestational diabetes often improves after childbirth, but it is a significant metabolic warning sign.

Women who develop it carry a higher lifetime risk of type 2 diabetes and future cardiovascular disease [3]. Uncontrolled blood glucose during pregnancy can also increase the risk of high birth weight, preterm delivery, and neonatal complications.

Timely glucose screening, structured monitoring, and guided nutritional management protect both maternal and fetal health, while also enabling postpartum follow-up to reduce long-term metabolic risk.

In India, tuberculosis remains a major public health challenge, accounting for nearly one-quarter of the global TB burden. Alarmingly, two lives are lost to the disease approximately every three minutes.

Despite being preventable and curable, delayed diagnosis, incomplete treatment, and social stigma continue to fuel its spread.

Strengthening early detection, ensuring treatment adherence, and expanding awareness are critical to reducing this burden and saving lives.

In the 40s, health care must move from reacting to symptoms to anticipating risk.

Many women experience perimenopausal changes even while their cycles remain regular [2]. Fluctuating oestrogen can affect bone remodelling, vascular function, insulin sensitivity, and sleep regulation [1].

Bone loss may accelerate during these years, while rising LDL levels and central fat redistribution gradually increase cardiovascular risk [1].

Midlife screening, including but not limited to bone density, lipid profile, glucose markers, thyroid function, and blood pressure, helps establish early baselines and enables timely intervention. So don't wait for symptoms to show up, speak to your doctor today.

In India, approximately 1 in 850 live births is affected by Down syndrome.

Early awareness during pregnancy can make a meaningful difference. The Dual Marker Test, usually done between 9–13 weeks (ideally 11–13 weeks), is a screening that helps assess the risk of chromosomal conditions like Down syndrome. While it doesn’t provide a definitive answer, it offers valuable insight and helps guide next steps if needed.

Staying informed can make this journey a little more reassuring. Consult your doctor to understand what’s right for you and your baby.

When laboratory systems and digital pathology workflows connect seamlessly, diagnostics become faster, smarter, and more precise.

This Histotechnology Professionals Day, we celebrate an important milestone in India’s cancer diagnostics journey. Tata Memorial Hospital (TMH) has inaugurated its integrated digital end-to-end pathology workflow within the Pathology Work Area.

With a connected digital pathology ecosystem, TMH’s surgical pathology teams benefit from streamlined workflows, fewer manual touchpoints, and faster access to insights—supporting timely and confident diagnostic decisions.

At Roche, we are proud to collaborate with institutions like Tata Memorial Hospital and support the laboratory professionals who play a critical role in advancing cancer care. Together, we move one step closer to strengthening cancer diagnostics in India.

Preeclampsia is more than elevated blood pressure during pregnancy; it is a multi-system condition that can affect the kidneys, liver, brain, and placenta, placing both mother and baby at risk.

While high blood pressure is a key feature, other warning signs, such as persistent swelling, severe headaches, visual disturbances, or protein in the urine, signal the need for urgent evaluation [1]. In some cases, symptoms may be subtle, which makes routine antenatal monitoring critical.

Timely detection allows closer surveillance, blood pressure control, and planned intervention when necessary, significantly reducing the risk of severe complications.

Your 30s are often defined by expansion, professionally and personally, but physiologically, this decade brings subtle metabolic and hormonal transitions.

Basal metabolic rate gradually slows, stress-related cortisol patterns may influence weight and cycle regularity, and early insulin resistance can begin to emerge, especially in those with prior PCOS or a family history of diabetes. Fertility planning also becomes more time-sensitive, making reproductive health awareness increasingly important.

Routine health assessments during this phase are not excessive, they help identify trends before they become diagnoses.

Cervical cancer remains one of the most preventable cancers, yet hundreds of women still lose their lives to it. Persistent high-risk HPV infection is the primary cause of cervical cancer, which can be prevented with the timely HPV vaccine.

In addition, screening can detect precancerous changes long before they progress.

When screening and immunisation are prioritised, incidence and mortality decline dramatically.

Speak to your doctor about HPV testing and vaccination today.

Dr. Nandita Palshetkar speaks about the importance of understanding AMH (Anti-Müllerian Hormone) levels as an indicator of ovarian reserve. While AMH does not predict natural conception with certainty, it provides valuable insight into egg quantity and helps guide timely decisions.

She also explains that age remains the single most important factor in egg quality. Egg freezing in the late 20s or early 30s generally provides stronger outcomes compared to waiting until the late 30s, when natural decline accelerates.

PCOS is often reduced to a menstrual issue, but clinically, it is a complex endocrine condition [1].

Beyond irregular cycles, it can influence ovulation, insulin resistance, lipid levels, inflammation, and long-term cardiometabolic risk [2]. Symptoms may vary widely, from acne and hair changes to weight fluctuations and difficulty conceiving, which is why it is frequently under-recognised.

JAGRUTI Didi would gently remind you that when something feels different, it is worth checking. A timely diagnosis allows the right lifestyle guidance, metabolic monitoring, and medical care long before complications such as type 2 diabetes or fertility challenges develop.

Because when you give a little attention to your health today, you gain clarity, confidence, and control for the years ahead.
