Holi is a time for joy, but synthetic colors and water balloons can lead to serious eye injuries. Every year, we see a rise in cases of corneal abrasions, chemical conjunctivitis, and eye allergies due to toxic industrial dyes containing lead and mercury.
If you or your child experience persistent eye redness, burning sensations, blurred vision, or feel like there is a foreign particle stuck in the eye, do not rub it! Rubbing can cause permanent scratches on the cornea.
Quick Holi Tips:
Use protective goggles or glasses (especially for children).
Avoid contact lenses as they can trap chemicals against the eye.
Rinse immediately with clean water for 15 minutes if color enters the eye.
Consult an Eye Surgeon immediately for any vision changes.
