Symmetry in droopy eyelid (p-tosis) surgery is measured in millimetres📐

This gentleman had a right droopy eyelid (acquired p-tosis) due to a loose levator muscle (the muscle that lifts the eyelid). We performed a ptosis repair - a specialised surgery to restore the function of the muscle 🌟

Why do droopy eyelids happen?
I break down the common causes of ptosis into 4 simple buckets:
👶 Congenital – present since birth (the muscle responsible to lift the eyelid is weak by birth)
👴 Age-related – eye-rubbing and ageing loosen the eyelid muscle over time
🤕 Traumatic – after injury/surgery, due to damage or slippage of this muscle
🧠 Neurogenic – when the nerve supply to the eyelid is affected
