पयःपानं भुजङ्गानां केवलं विषवर्धनम्॥

Meaning:
A favor done to a wicked person also goes in vain, because according to his nature he turns it into evil. Just like feeding milk to a snake only increases its poison, similarly the favor done to a mean person also appears as evil by him. Regards HS Mann

भावार्थ:
दुष्ट व्यक्ति पर किया गया उपकार भी व्यर्थ जाता है, क्योंकि वह उसे अपनी प्रकृति के अनुसार बुराई में ही बदल देता है। जैसे सांप को दूध पिलाना केवल उसके विष को ही बढ़ाता है, उसी प्रकार नीच व्यक्ति पर किया गया उपकार भी, उसके द्वारा बुराई के रूप में ही प्रकट होता है।

ਅਰਥ:
ਦੁਸ਼ਟ ਵਿਅਕਤੀ 'ਤੇ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ ਉਪਕਾਰ ਵੀ ਵਿਅਰਥ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਉਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਸੁਭਾਅ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਇਸਨੂੰ ਬੁਰਾਈ ਵਿੱਚ ਬਦਲ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਜਿਵੇਂ ਸੱਪ ਨੂੰ ਦੁੱਧ ਪਿਲਾਉਣ ਨਾਲ ਉਸਦਾ ਜ਼ਹਿਰ ਹੀ ਵਧਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸੇ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਕਿਸੇ ਘਟੀਆ ਵਿਅਕਤੀ 'ਤੇ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ ਉਪਕਾਰ ਵੀ ਉਸਨੂੰ ਬੁਰਾਈ ਜਾਪਦਾ ਹੈ।

बह्वन्तराययुक्तस्य धर्मस्य त्वरिता गतिः।।

Meaning:
Wise people adept in political science want stability and slowness in all actions.
However, righteous deeds (acts of Dharma) are to be performed fast, as there are often many impediments in their completion.

अर्थ:
राजनीति शास्त्र में निपुण बुद्धिमान लोग सभी कार्यों में स्थिरता और धीमी गति चाहते हैं। हालाँकि, धार्मिक कर्म (धर्म के कार्य) तेजी से किए जाने चाहिए, क्योंकि उनके पूरा होने में अक्सर कई बाधाएँ आती हैं।

ਅਰਥ:
ਰਾਜਨੀਤੀ ਵਿਗਿਆਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਮਾਹਰ ਬੁੱਧੀਮਾਨ ਲੋਕ ਸਾਰੇ ਕੰਮਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਥਿਰਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਧੀਮੀ ਗਤੀ ਚਾਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ।

वयमिह परितुष्टा वल्कलैस्त्वं दुकूलैः
सम इह परितोषो निर्विशेषो विषेशः।
स तु भवतु दरिद्रो यस्य तृष्णा विशाला
मनसि च परितुष्टे कोऽर्थवान् को दरिद्रः॥

Meaning:
This shlok highlights a conversation between a Yogi and a King where by Yogi says:
"O King! I am wearing clothes made of tree bark, while you are wearing fine silk clothes; But both of us are happy and our contentment is the same — because no contentment is better than another! Poor is the man who's desires are big; There is no difference between the poor and rich, once the heart is content."

Lets be contented from within, and this contentment can only come by finding little joys and purpose in the "Current Momment" where the Almighty has placed you and then dancing ahead on this journey of life on the tunes and melodies played by HIM.

अर्थ:
यह श्लोक एक योगी और एक राजा के बीच हुई बातचीत पर प्रकाश डालता है, जिसमें योगी कहता है:
"हे राजन! मैं पेड़ की छाल से बने कपड़े पहनता हूँ, जबकि आप बढ़िया रेशमी कपड़े पहनते हैं; लेकिन हम दोनों खुश हैं और हमारी संतुष्टि एक जैसी है - क्योंकि कोई भी संतुष्टि दूसरे से बेहतर नहीं है! गरीब वह व्यक्ति है जिसकी इच्छाएँ बड़ी हैं; एक बार दिल संतुष्ट हो जाए तो गरीब और अमीर में कोई अंतर नहीं है।"

आइए भीतर से संतुष्ट रहें, और यह संतुष्टि केवल "वर्तमान क्षण" में छोटी-छोटी खुशियाँ और उद्देश्य खोजने से आ सकती है जहाँ सर्वशक्तिमान ने आपको रखा है और फिर उसके द्वारा बजाए गए धुनों और रागों पर जीवन की इस यात्रा पर नाचते हुए आगे बढ़ें।

"तत्प्रज्ञानेत्रं प्रज्ञाने प्रतिष्ठितं,
प्रज्ञानेत्रो लोकः, प्रज्ञानं ब्रह्म"।

Meaning:
This sentence is taken from Aitereya Upanishad (III.1.3) which means "That Prajna (knowledge) is the eye, all is established in Prajna, Prajna is the world, and Prajna is Brahman". In other words, it shows the supremacy of knowledge and its unity with Brahman.
In detail:
* Tatprajnaetram: "That Prajna (knowledge) is the eye" - This shows that Prajna is the means of seeing, understanding and knowing, just as the eyes see.
* Prajnane pratisthitham: "All is established in Prajna" - This means that all things are established in knowledge, knowledge is the foundation.
• Prajnaetro Lokah: "Wisdom is the world" - Here, Loka means the world or the universe, and it is being said that wisdom is the essence of the world, the world is contained in wisdom.

* Prajnanam Brahma: "Wisdom is Brahman" - This is the most important part, which states that knowledge, wisdom, and Brahman are one and the same.(If you have knowledge, Bhramha exists for you and if you dont have the right knowledge, then there is no Bhramha for you).

अर्थ:
यह वाक्य ऐतरेय उपनिषद (III.1.3) से लिया गया है, जिसका अर्थ है "वह प्रज्ञा (ज्ञान) ही नेत्र है, प्रज्ञा में ही सब प्रतिष्ठित है, प्रज्ञा ही लोक है, और प्रज्ञा ही ब्रह्म है"। दूसरे शब्दों में, यह ज्ञान की सर्वोच्चता और ब्रह्म के साथ उसकी एकता को दर्शाता है।

अक्रोधस्तपस: क्षमा प्रभवितुर्धर्मस्य निर्व्याजता
सर्वेषामपि सर्वकारणमिदं शीलं परं भूषणम्।।"*
-(भर्तृ० श० 78)

Translation:
The beauty of wealth is gentlemanliness. The beauty of bravery is restraint in speech (not boasting). The beauty of knowledge is peace and humility. The beauty of wealth is donation to the deserving. The beauty of penance is not getting angry. The beauty of power is forgiveness and the ornament of religion is pure behavior. But the reason for all these is virtue (good conduct), which is the best ornament.

भावार्थ:
धन-सम्पत्ति की शोभा सज्जनता हैं। शूरवीरता की शोभा वाक् संयम(बढ़-चढ़कर बातें न करना) हैं। ज्ञान की शोभा शान्ति एवं नम्रता हैं। धन की शोभा सुपात्र में दान है। तप की शोभा क्रोध न करना। प्रभुता की शोभा क्षमा और धर्म का भूषण निश्छल व्यवहार है। परन्तु इन सबका कारणरूप सदाचार सर्वश्रेष्ठ भूषण है।

ਅਰਥ:
ਦੌਲਤ ਦੀ ਸੁੰਦਰਤਾ ਸ਼ਿਸ਼ਟਾਚਾਰ ਹੈ। ਬਹਾਦਰੀ ਦੀ ਸੁੰਦਰਤਾ ਬੋਲਣ ਵਿੱਚ ਸੰਜਮ ਹੈ (ਸ਼ੇਖੀ ਨਹੀਂ)। ਗਿਆਨ ਦੀ ਸੁੰਦਰਤਾ ਸ਼ਾਂਤੀ ਅਤੇ ਨਿਮਰਤਾ ਹੈ। ਦੌਲਤ ਦੀ ਸੁੰਦਰਤਾ ਦਾਨ ਕਰਨਾ ਹੈ। ਤਪੱਸਿਆ ਦੀ ਸੁੰਦਰਤਾ ਗੁੱਸਾ ਨਾ ਕਰਨਾ ਹੈ। ਸ਼ਕਤੀ ਦੀ ਸੁੰਦਰਤਾ ਮੁਆਫ਼ੀ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਧਰਮ ਦਾ ਗਹਿਣਾ ਸ਼ੁੱਧ ਆਚਰਣ ਹੈ। ਪਰ ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਸਭ ਦਾ ਕਾਰਨ ਚੰਗਾ ਆਚਰਣ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਉਹੋ ਹੀ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਵਧੀਆ ਗਹਿਣਾ ਹੈ।

*Meaning:*
This verse is taken from Chandogya Upanishad (7.26.2) and explains the relationship between diet, purity of mind, memory and liberation. It states that pure diet purifies the mind, purity of mind leads to strong memory (Dhruva Smriti), and strong memory leads to liberation from all bondages (Vipramoksha).

*अर्थ:*
यह श्लोक छाँदोग्य उपनिषद् (7.26.2) से लिया गया है और इसमें आहार, मन की शुद्धता, स्मृति और मुक्ति के बीच संबंध बताया गया है। यह बताता है कि शुद्ध आहार से मन शुद्ध होता है, मन की शुद्धता से दृढ़ स्मृति (ध्रुवा स्मृति) मिलती है, और दृढ़ स्मृति से सभी बंधनों से मुक्ति (विप्रमोक्ष) प्राप्त होती है.

*ਅਰਥ:*

*Meaning:*
"He who knows the Self (soul), transcends sorrow (duhkha) or does not feel sorrow and grief."
One who has attained enlightenment transcends suffering because he is aware of suffering and the cause of suffering (ignorance) and thus comes out of it.

*अर्थ:*
"आत्मवित" अर्थात आत्मा का ज्ञान रखने वाला या आत्मज्ञानी l
"तरति शोकम्" शोक के पार हो जाता है अर्थात शोक नहीं करता l

*ਅਰਥ:*
"ਉਹ ਜੋ ਆਪਣੇ ਆਪ (ਆਤਮਾ) ਨੂੰ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਹੈ, ਦੁੱਖ ਤੋਂ ਪਾਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜਾਂ ਦੁੱਖ ਅਤੇ ਸੋਗ ਮਹਿਸੂਸ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਦਾ।"
ਜਿਸਨੇ ਆਤਮ ਗਿਆਨ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਦੁੱਖ ਤੋਂ ਪਾਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਉਹ ਦੁੱਖ ਅਤੇ ਦੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਨ (ਅਗਿਆਨਤਾ) ਤੋਂ ਜਾਣੂ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਇਸ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਬਾਹਰ ਨਿਕਲਦਾ ਹੈ।

*Meaning:*
There is no well-wisher like charity and there is no bigger enemy than greediness in this world. There is no other ornament like character and there is no other money like satisfaction.

*अर्थ:*
दान के समान अन्य कोई सुहृद (मित्र) नहीं है और पृथ्वी पर लोभ के समान कोई शत्रु नहीं है। शील (सदाचार) के समान कोई आभूषण नहीं है और संतोष के समान कोई धन नहीं है।

*ਅਰਥ:*
ਧਰਤੀ ਉੱਤੇ ਦਾਨ ਵਰਗਾ ਕੋਈ ਦੋਸਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਲਾਲਚ ਵਰਗਾ ਕੋਈ ਦੁਸ਼ਮਣ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ। ਨੈਤਿਕਤਾ ਵਰਗਾ ਕੋਈ ਗਹਿਣਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਸੰਤੋਖ ਵਰਗੀ ਕੋਈ ਦੌਲਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ।

*Meaning:*
It is good to speak the truth, but more than that, one should speak the truth which is beneficial to all. In my opinion, whatever is beneficial to all is the truth.

*अर्थ:*
सत्य बोलना श्रेयस्कर है, लेकिन उससे भी बढ़कर, वह सत्य बोलना चाहिए जो सभी के लिए हितकर हो। मेरे विचार से, जो कुछ भी सभी का कल्याण करता है, वही सत्य है।

*ਭਾਵ:*
ਸੱਚ ਬੋਲਣਾ ਚੰਗਾ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਇਸ ਤੋਂ ਵੀ ਵੱਧ, ਸੱਚ ਬੋਲਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਸਾਰਿਆਂ ਲਈ ਲਾਭਦਾਇਕ ਹੋਵੇ। ਮੇਰੀ ਰਾਏ ਵਿੱਚ, ਜੋ ਵੀ ਸਾਰਿਆਂ ਲਈ ਲਾਭਦਾਇਕ ਹੈ, ਉਹੀ ਸੱਚ ਹੈ।

"साफल्यं ध्येयप्राप्त्यर्थ सोपानम्, नैव ध्येयम्।"

Meaning:
"Success is just a step to achieve the goal, not the goal in itself."
The thought that you have become successful and achieved your goal makes you complacent. It is actually now important that you retain and cement this success to ward off any fears of falling down from the position that you have attained. It is the sense of fearlessness that would allow you to actually enjoy your success once you have attained and have taken steps to retain that for long. Thus one needs to act on developing and improving on those aspects that allow your success to be a long term one, not only for yourself, but for your progeny too, as their success too is one of your goals of life. Staying on top is more difficult than making it to the top!

अर्थ:
"सफलता लक्ष्य प्राप्त करने की दिशा में उठाया गया एक कदम मात्र है, अपने आप में लक्ष्य नहीं।"

गुणैः सर्वजकल्पोपि सीदत्येको निराश्रयः।
अनर्धमपि माणिक्यं हेमाश्रयमपेक्षते॥८॥

Meaning:
"The entire cycle of all living beings is suffering alone for eons on account of lack of good deeds or good virtues. Even half a gem needs the shelter of gold." Great people always strive for doing good deeds, acquiring great virtues by being in the company of good people. Company of good people complements your own virtues and enhances them. Even a jewel seems incomplete in beauty till its fixed in the ornament of lustrous Gold.

अर्थ:
"सभी जीवों का पूरा चक्र अच्छे कर्मों या अच्छे गुणों के अभाव में अकेले ही कल्पों से पीड़ित है। आधे रत्न को भी सोने की शरण की आवश्यकता होती है।"
महान लोग हमेशा अच्छे कर्म करने का प्रयास करते हैं, अच्छे लोगों की संगति में रहकर महान गुणों को प्राप्त करते हैं। अच्छे लोगों की संगति आपके अपने गुणों को पूरक बनाती है और उन्हें बढ़ाती है। एक रत्न भी सुंदरता में अधूरा लगता है जब तक कि वह चमकदार सोने के आभूषण में न जड़ा हो।

ਅਰਥ:
"ਸਾਰੇ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦਾ ਸਾਰਾ ਚੱਕਰ ਚੰਗੇ ਕੰਮਾਂ ਜਾਂ ਚੰਗੇ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਦੀ ਘਾਟ ਕਾਰਨ ਕਲਪਾਂ ਲਈ ਹੀ ਦੁਖੀ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ। ਅੱਧੇ ਰਤਨ ਨੂੰ ਵੀ ਸੋਨੇ ਦੀ ਪਨਾਹ ਦੀ ਲੋੜ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ।"
ਮਹਾਨ ਲੋਕ ਹਮੇਸ਼ਾ ਚੰਗੇ ਕੰਮ ਕਰਨ ਦੀ ਕੋਸ਼ਿਸ਼ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਚੰਗੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤ ਵਿੱਚ ਰਹਿ ਕੇ ਮਹਾਨ ਗੁਣ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ। ਚੰਗੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪੂਰਾ ਕਰਦੀ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਵਧਾਉਂਦੀ ਹੈ। ਇੱਕ ਰਤਨ ਵੀ ਸੁੰਦਰਤਾ ਵਿੱਚ ਅਧੂਰਾ ਜਾਪਦਾ ਹੈ ਜਦੋਂ ਤੱਕ ਇਹ ਚਮਕਦੇ ਸੋਨੇ ਦੇ ਗਹਿਣੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਨਹੀਂ ਲਗਾਇਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ।
