The rheumatology session of MAPCON 2024, led by a dedicated team from Topiwala National Medical College, was indeed an impressive event. Dr. Girish Rajadhyaksha, Dr. Nilesh Nolkha, Dr. Pranav Chickermane, and Dr. Shailaja Sabnis organized the session impeccably, drawing a substantial crowd to the K Ramamoorthy Hall at Hotel Westin Powai Lake. The well-attended sessions offered a valuable learning experience for medical students and general physicians alike, making the event a tremendous success. The dedication of the organizing team truly made it a memorable and beneficial occasion for all attendees.

Prevention is better than cure and Early Diagnosis is better than a delayed diagnosis. It does not take a genius to make that statement. A rare diagnosis often is a challenge for a patient and doctor. It is a tricky territory to tread on. Often the symptoms mimic other common diseases resulting in delay. Doctor-patient ratio makes the situation more complicated. Best way to move forward is increased awareness.

A CME on Pediatric Rheumatology was conducted at Nair Hospital on December 20, 2024, under the esteemed guidance of Dr. Surbhi Rathi, HOD Pediatrics; Dr. Nilesh Nolkha, Head of Rheumatology; and Dr. Poonam Wade, Additional Professor of Pediatrics. The event was inaugurated by the Dean, Dr. Shailesh Mohite, marking the beginning of an insightful academic session. The CME featured engaging lectures by prominent speakers, including Dr. Rachna Mohite, Dr. Poonam Wade, and Dr. Pranav Chickermane, who shared their expertise on various aspects of Pediatric Rheumatology. The program was a valuable learning experience for all attendees, enhancing knowledge and fostering discussions in this specialized field.

The S D Deodar Trophy Quiz is conducted by the Indian Rheumatology Association every year to create Rheumatology interest and awareness among medicine resident doctors. The Mumbai regional round and the Western zonal round has been conducted in Topiwala National Medical college Today by Dr Nilesh Nolkha and Dr Pranav Chickermane (Consultants in Rheumatology).After a screening round involving 15 teams 6 teams ( GMC and Sir JJ Hospital, MGM Hospital Vashi, Dr. R N Cooper and HBT Medical College, Wockhardts Hospital Mumbai Central, TNMC and B.Y.L Nair Hospital and KEM and Seth G S Medical college) got selected for the Mumbai Regional round. Top two teams from Mumbai regional round ( Teams from GMC & Sir JJ Hospital and Dr R N Cooper & HBT Hospital) got selected for the Western Zonal rounds and competed with teams from B.J Medical college Ahmedabad , Indira Gandhi Medical College Nagpur, Malla Reddy Institute of Medical Sciences Hyderabad, and GMC Aurangabad. After a very tough competition Dr Amit Sinha and Dr Shreyas Rabade from GMC Aurangabad has secured the first place and got selected for the final S.D Deodhar Trophy Quiz to be conducted at IRACON 2024 Bengaluru in November. Dr Meksha Sakariya and Dr Suamya Kumar from GMC and Sir JJ Hospital secured the second place and Dr Meet Mehta and Dr Ravindra Vadodariya from BJ Medical college Ahmedabad finished as the second runner up.
