Founded in June 2001
Niramaya Health Foundation is a non-profit, non-government, community health services organization, committed to improving the health of its communities. With thousands of people migrating into the city every month, a majority of its population living in urban slums constantly deals with issues such as unemployment, lack of water, poor or complete absence of sewerage and waste management facilities, pollution, and as a result of all these, very poor health conditions. Niramaya Health Foundation, founded in June 2001, is a non-profit, non-government, community based health services organization, committed to improving the health of these communities. Originally an endeavor of Pratham Mumbai Education Initiative (www.pratham.org) to improve the health of balwadi going children in August 1999, Niramaya has over the years changed its focus from primarily preschool children to one that covers different aspects of community health. Niramaya’s field areas in Mumbai include Ghatkopar, Vikhroli, Mankhurd, Govandi, Wadala, Dharavi and Kurla on the Central Railway, and Kurar, Poisar and Madh on the Western side. Niramaya is also working with communities in the cities of Pune, Surat and Delhi, and in the states of Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan.

Our Festive Spirit – Handcrafted with Love

The spirit of Raksha Bandhan is a celebration of the special bond between siblings, and like every year, we honored that spirit through our festive special CSR activity of creating handmade rakhis. In partnership with Niramaya Foundation, we organized a beautiful rakhi-making workshop with children from urban slums in Mumbai. Our collective effort led to creation of over 180 beautiful rakhis. These handmade tokens of siblinghood made their way to our Mumbai offices, where they were met with the most outpouring of support. The generosity of our colleagues shined through and 109 rakhis were purchased to benefit the children who helped make them.

We believe that great things are built one small step at a time. The simple act of volunteering can be a profound source of confidence and inspiration. It's in these genuine, heartfelt actions that one can usually find their purpose. The incredible dedication of our GeBBS volunteers is what truly brings these initiatives to life. Our Story

Niramaya health Foundation is a grassroots non-governmental organization founded in 2001 by service minded and dedicated Public Health Professionals from Pratham Education. The Micronutrient Deficiencies in preschool children prompted the team to start this organization to address unmet nutritional needs in the children. The organization is registered under the Section 25C of Companies act, and the Foreign Contribution Regulation Act (FCRA).

Since Niramaya’s inception, the healthcare activities have broadened beyond child health and nutrition to good health for all. Niramaya has also expanded the range of the healthcare activities from curative to preventive and promotive health. In all these years, Niramaya has developed cost-effective, measurable and sustainable healthcare projects and programs. The modus operandi is that of liaising with public and charitable health care providers and beneficiaries. Niramaya finds that this helps to achieve set goals as well as empower communities to benefit from the available services. Every year Niramaya is able to transform and touch lives of 10, 00,000 beneficiaries directly or indirectly.
