How to deal with Stress??
1. Get the Right amount of Sleep.
Quality of sleep influence Cortisol levels..the hormone which causes multiple diseses like diabetes, hypertension, thyroid dysfunction,obesity etc etc...
Keep a consistent sleep schedule, avoid caffeine in the evening and get 7-8 hours non interrupted sleep daily to keep cortisol in normal rytham.
2.Exercise.
Be physically active.Moderate amount of exercise daily decreases cortisol levels.
3.Learn to Relax.
Mind relaxation techniques are proven to lower cortisol.
Examples includes deep breathing,pranayam, meditation, music.
4. Have Fun.
Yes ,it is necessary.
Tending to your own happiness will help keep cortisol down.
Taking up a hobby , spending time outdoors and laughing helps.
Activities that increase life satisfaction improves Health.
5. Maintain Healthy Relationships.
Spend time with those you love.Support from loved ones helps in reduce cortisol.
Learn to forgive and forget.
Live and let live.
6.Be your Best Self.
Feeling of shame,guilt and inadequacy lead to negative thinking and elaved cortisol.
Resolving guilt improves cortisol levels.This may involve changing habits , forgiving others and learning to forgive yourself.
7. Spirituality.
Those with spiritual intentions tend to have lower level of cortisol.
Wheather you are spiritual or not, simple acts of kindness can also improves your cortisol levels.
8.Eat Healthy foods.
Nutrition influences cortisol levels.
Sugar intake is one of the classic trigger for cortisol release.
Dark chocolate (above 80% of cacoa), fruits, green tea,low glycemic index food lowers cortisol.
9.Balance work and Home.
10.Bond with your pet if you have one.
These are simple lifestyle changes that lowers stress and improves Health ๐
