Testicular cancer
Testicular cancer primarily affects young and middle-aged men and is one of the most treatable cancers when diagnosed early. However, if left undiagnosed or untreated, it may lead to infertility, hormonal imbalances, and metastasis to organs such as the lungs, brain, and abdomen. The psychological and emotional impacts—especially in younger men—are also significant. Raising awareness through education, self-examination practices, and regular checkups is key to early detection and prevention of complications.

[Patient’s Story] [Kazakhstan – Breast Cancer – Interventional Therapy]

Breast Cancer Misdiagnosed as Mastitis! A Kazakh Mother Fight for Survival

The discomfort in her chest was overshadowed by the joy of becoming a new mother and the liveliness of her child. Aigerim (pseudonym) silently endured the mild pain without much concern. It wasn’t until the moment she was diagnosed with cancer that she truly realized the seriousness of her condition…
“Mastitis” That Never Healed—Eventually Diagnosed as Breast Cancer!
Aigerim, a 35-year-old from Kazakhstan, was diagnosed with HER2-positive breast cancer at the end of October 2024. The cancer did not arrive without warning.
Years earlier, during a routine check-up, a small lump was found in her left breast. Local doctors told her it was likely a cyst caused by residual milk after childbirth, and that the lump would naturally disappear once her hormone levels stabilized. At the time, she had already stopped breastfeeding for a year. Trusting the doctors, she didn’t pursue further tests.
During her second pregnancy in 2024, as she approached delivery, the lump gradually grew, and her skin became red, swollen, and warm. Believing it to be mastitis caused by blocked milk ducts, she paid little attention. But after her baby was born, the lump did not disappear—it grew to 10 cm in size and was accompanied by fever. Local doctors still diagnosed it as chronic mastitis and prescribed only anti-inflammatory drugs and antibiotics.
“Fortunately, some other doctors suspected my case and advised me to undergo a mammogram,” she recalled. Ultimately, imaging and biopsy confirmed the diagnosis: Breast cancer, HER2 (+++), Grade 3 (G3) - High grade

Obvious atypia, grows fast, prone to metastasis
△ Breast cancer grading indicates tumor malignancy, expressed as G1, G2, or G3 in pathology reports.

Chemotherapy-Induced Liver Damage? A Mother’s Courage to Seek a Way Out
Aigerim received one cycle of intravenous chemotherapy locally, but the severe side effects deterred her from continuing. “After chemotherapy, my liver enzymes tripled, which alarmed me greatly.” Being a doctor herself, she knew that further chemotherapy could cause severe liver damage. Disappointed, she chose to stop treatment.
The consequences of halting treatment soon appeared: the lump under her armpit grew, her cough worsened, and signs of lung metastasis emerged. Her overall condition deteriorated. Thinking of her elder daughter, just 4 years old, and her newborn baby, she knew she had to fight—she could not give up any chance at survival. Determined, she began seeking alternative treatments abroad.
Aigerim researched medical institutions in Germany, Turkey, and China. She eventually set her sights on Fuda Cancer Hospital in Guangzhou, China, as its personalized, comprehensive treatment model impressed her. Some of its specialized techniques, she had only heard of in the U.S. and Israel. After thorough investigation, she made the bold decision to come to Fuda for treatment.

Combination Therapy Shrinks Tumors, Bringing Smiles
“I want to live.” On March 31, 2025, Aigerim was admitted to Fuda’s Medical Oncology Department IV, and these were her very first words to the medical team.
After completing necessary examinations, Associate Chief Physician Xing Yanli discovered that in addition to her left breast cancer, Aigerim also had multiple metastatic lesions in both lungs and multiple metastatic lymph nodes in the left axilla. Furthermore, small lymph nodes were found in both pulmonary hila, the right axilla, porta hepatis, retroperitoneum, and bilateral inguinal regions.
After multidisciplinary discussions and evaluations, Dr. Xing prescribed interventional arterial infusion chemotherapy combined with targeted therapy.

△ A nurse changing her dressing

“Chinese medicine, Fuda Hospital—very reliable!” During treatment, Aigerim was deeply impressed by the meticulous care, kindness, and swift responses of the Fuda medical staff.

△ Medical staff celebrating Aigerim’s birthday

After two treatment cycles, follow-up scans showed that her breast tumor had shrunk by nearly half. The axillary lymph nodes and lung metastases also reduced significantly, with some even disappearing. She then continued for three more treatment cycles, during which her tumors continued shrinking, her condition stabilized, and her weight increased by 8 kg.
When the breast tumor shrank to 3 cm, Aigerim underwent cryoablation of the left breast tumor. “The whole process was almost painless, leaving only a needle-sized wound. Afterward, I could feel the tumor softening.”
Currently, Aigerim is continuing interventional and targeted therapy. We sincerely hope she will keep recovering and getting better day by day.

[Patient Story] [Kazakhstan – Olfactory Neuroblastoma – Intra-Arterial Chemotherapy]

Kazakh Madam Defeats Rare Nasal Cancer in Fuda Cancer Hospital

“Look! My nose is finally clear again!” Maka (alias) excitedly pointed to her nose, showing the medical staff the long-awaited improvement. She came from Kazakhstan in Central Asia, her smile radiating a sense of long-lost relief.
Just a few months ago, persistent nasal congestion, repeated nosebleeds, and a loss of smell were constant burdens in her daily life. Her story began in January 2025.
At that time, Maka started to suffer from persistent pain in the left maxillofacial region, a foreign body sensation when swallowing, and occasional blood in her nasal discharge. Examination at her local hospital revealed a “space-occupying lesion in the left maxillary sinus.” Post-surgical pathology suggested a maxillary sinus teratocarcinosarcoma.
However, less than two months after surgery, her left facial pain worsened, and a new mass appeared inside her nasal cavity. Highly suspicious of malignancy, Maka traveled to Moscow for further evaluation. A biopsy there confirmed the diagnosis: olfactory neuroblastoma. Doctors in Moscow advised her to return home for chemotherapy.

Olfactory Neuroblastoma
Olfactory neuroblastoma is a rare malignant tumor that originates in the olfactory epithelium located at the top of the nasal cavity. Its early symptoms are nonspecific, often presenting as nasal congestion and epistaxis (nosebleeds). As the disease progresses, it may lead to loss of smell, headaches, or even impaired eye movement.
Although olfactory neuroblastoma is highly sensitive to radiotherapy, it is also prone to recurrence at the primary site. Therefore, the current clinical approach often involves surgery combined with radiotherapy, sometimes with the addition of chemotherapy. Selected patients may also benefit from preoperative induction chemotherapy or preoperative radiotherapy.
For Maka, the tumor brought severe breathing difficulties, persistent nosebleeds, and unrelenting headaches, leaving her exhausted both physically and mentally. On the recommendation of a friend, she learned about Fuda Cancer Hospital in Guangzhou, which has a strong reputation for treating complex tumors. Holding onto her last hope, she traveled to Guangzhou with her family and was admitted to Fuda’s Medical Oncology Department III.

A Precise Multidisciplinary Treatment Plan
Upon admission, Maka’s nasal cavity was almost completely obstructed by the tumor, which had extensively invaded the nasopharynx, left ethmoid sinus, and maxillary sinus, with surrounding bone destruction and multiple metastatic lymph nodes in the neck. Her carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA) levels were also significantly elevated.
Faced with this complex condition, her attending physician, Dr. Zhou Guiqing, immediately convened a multidisciplinary team (MDT) consultation.
After thorough discussion and evaluation, the team designed a personalized treatment plan for Maka:
• Intra-arterial chemotherapy and arterial chemoembolization to control tumor activity and reduce bleeding.
• Additional systemic chemotherapy to enhance the treatment effect.
• Use of immunotherapy drugs as supportive treatment.
The goal was to stabilize her condition and create favorable conditions for subsequent radical radiotherapy.

Significant Improvement in Just Two Courses
After the first round of treatment, Maka’s nasal congestion and nosebleeds improved significantly, and the sensation of a foreign body when swallowing was greatly reduced. After the second course, she was overjoyed to find that she could breathe freely through her nose again, and her sense of smell had returned!
Follow-up imaging revealed that the tumor inside her nasal cavity and sinuses had shrunk markedly, and tumor markers had gradually stabilized. All these signs indicated that the treatment plan was working.

(Before treatment → After two courses)
As her condition steadily improved, Maka’s overall state became much better. After review and consultation between the oncology and radiotherapy departments, Maka made an important decision: to give up the option of free treatment back home and stay in Guangzhou to complete radical radiotherapy at Fuda.
During radiotherapy, her medical team used cisplatin chemotherapy concurrently as a radiosensitizer to enhance efficacy, shrink the target area, and reduce side effects.

Warmth Beyond Medicine
“You have really helped me a lot!” Maka and her family were deeply grateful for her improvement. “The medical staff here are excellent, the translation team is extremely professional, and the medical technology is impressive.”
What touched her most was a thoughtful gesture from interpreter Ms. Li Lingxi, who specially prepared a traditional Chinese red paper-cutting artwork symbolizing “fortune and longevity.” This heartfelt blessing made Maka, far away from home, feel the warmth of family in a foreign land.

Breast cancer
Breast tissue is composed of glandular structures (lobules and ducts), fat, and connective tissue. Though its primary biological function is milk production via lobules and ducts during and after pregnancy, it also plays a significant role in hormonal signalling and local metabolic regulation. Any disease affecting the breast may disrupt these functions and have profound impacts on physical and emotional health.

[Patient Story] [Hongkong – Lung Cancer – Cryoablation]

Hong Kong Woman with Advanced Lung Cancer; Father, Brother, and Sister Also Diagnosed with Lung Nodules or Lung Cancer

This story begins with two sisters from Hong Kong.
In December 2022, the elder sister, Xiao (pseudonym), began experiencing headaches. Initially, she thought it was trigeminal neuralgia caused by periodontal disease, but repeated examinations found nothing abnormal. However, as her headaches and chest pains worsened, she underwent a chest CT scan at a local hospital, which revealed a 4.7 × 4.7 cm mass in the right upper lung near the hilum. She was eventually diagnosed with right lung adenocarcinoma, with multiple metastases to lymph nodes, bones, liver, lungs, and brain.

Genetic testing revealed an EGFR exon 19 deletion mutation, so Xiao began taking oral targeted therapy and received whole-brain radiotherapy along with local intensity-modulated therapy. However, she soon developed drug resistance. Despite multiple changes in medication and treatment adjustments, her cancer continued to progress, leaving local doctors at a loss. Xiao suffered immensely—she was unable to walk, her bones and thighs were immobile, and she relied entirely on a wheelchair. The level of pain she endured was described as “10 out of 10.”
Later, Xiao learned about cryoablation technology from an American friend and read news reports about Fuda Cancer Hospital in Guangzhou. Hoping to relieve her suffering, Xiao and her younger sister, Xia, went together to Fuda’s Medical Department One on March 30 of this year to seek treatment.
Based on admission examinations and her medical history, and in order to control the tumor locally and reduce tumor burden, the team at Medical Department One performed cryoablation to control the tumor in her right lung, combined with anti-angiogenic targeted therapy and intra-arterial infusion chemotherapy, allowing small doses of drugs to directly reach the tumor.
“Whether it’s interventional therapy or cryoablation, there’s no obvious discomfort. Targeted therapy feels just like a glucose infusion—you just lie in bed or walk around with this ‘Christmas tree IV stand.’” After each treatment, doctors provided liver- and kidney-protective care to reduce side effects. Compared with before, Xiao’s CT scans showed the tumor had shrunk.

△ Assistant to the President and Deputy Director of Medical Department One, Long Xin’an, with attending physician Li Chunli, leading ward rounds

Xia, her younger sister, was not only a companion during the treatment but also a patient herself. Two years earlier, she had been found to have a lung nodule. At that time, the nodule was small, so only regular follow-ups were needed. Over time, however, it grew into a 0.7 cm ground-glass nodule. This year’s chest CT revealed multiple ground-glass nodules in both lungs, the largest located in the anterior basal segment of the right lower lobe—classified as intermediate risk.
Recalling that their father had died of lung cancer, and that among eight siblings, one sister had lung cancer and both she and her younger brother had lung nodules, Xia became determined to address her worrying lung nodule. She underwent cryoablation at Fuda Hospital. Fortunately, postoperative pathology confirmed it was benign.
“It was our own prejudice,” said their younger brother, Mr. Xu, who had come along specifically to see for himself whether the Fuda Hospital so highly praised by his sisters truly lived up to its reputation. Within just a few days, he had become an ardent supporter. Holding the hospital’s brochure in his hands, he flipped through it page by page, commenting on each section with visible admiration.

△ Younger brother Mr. Xu reviewing the hospital’s promotional materials

“Many of these techniques are not yet available in Hong Kong.” Before coming to Fuda, he thought medical treatments around the world were largely the same. But upon arriving, he felt as though he had stepped into a whole new world. He was particularly interested in Fuda’s unique “3C+P” treatment model—especially after witnessing his sister’s tangible improvement under this approach. “When my sister first arrived, every step caused pain and she needed a wheelchair. Now she can walk around with a cane, take care of herself, and has even gained over 10 pounds.”
In addition to advanced medical technologies, what impressed them most was Fuda’s exceptional service and comfortable medical environment. “During ward rounds, the medical staff enter in an orderly manner like a disciplined team, asking questions in detail. The nurses are practically on call around the clock.” The siblings also noticed that Fuda’s patients come from all over the world, and the hospital provides special facilities for international patients, such as a Buddhist hall, prayer room, and halal room. “In Hong Kong, even if you have money, it’s hard to enjoy this level of service because hospital beds are in such short supply.” Xiao still requires ongoing treatment, but each return trip to Fuda now feels like a journey—and she believes she will grow stronger along the way.

Did You Know? — Can Lung Cancer Be Inherited?
Lung cancer is not directly inherited, but genetic factors may increase an individual’s risk. This risk is most apparent in family clusters of the disease. If several family members across multiple generations have had lung cancer, certain genetic mutations or chromosomal abnormalities may be present, increasing the likelihood for descendants to develop the disease.
Research shows that first-degree relatives of lung cancer patients have more than double the risk compared to the general population. However, lung cancer develops as a result of multiple factors combined, including smoking, air pollution, occupational exposures, and chronic lung disease. Genetic predisposition is only one factor—it is not decisive.
Therefore, people with a long history of smoking, exposure to secondhand smoke or cooking oil fumes, long-term occupational exposure to radon, arsenic, beryllium, or their compounds, a family history of lung cancer, or chronic lung disease—especially those over the age of 40—are advised to undergo regular lung cancer screenings such as low-dose spiral CT, in order to detect potential early-stage lesions and improve survival rates.
