Each and every child is talented. Just because a particular parent doesn't tell you or put up on social media doesn't mean that their child doesn't know anything.
Also it's not necessarily that when a parent puts all the glory of the child on social media, that child is the best.
So think twice before judging any child.
Also ask a child before putting anything about him or her on social media.
If your child picks up a hobby, a skill it may not be everytime just to show the world. It can be just for the growth of the child.

*This is the common concern of many parents that we are witnessing these days at Sanghvi Child Care Centre*

My 4 year old daughter was having mild cough, cold last week which has recovered. But now she has got tiny skin lesions on her hands, feet & face. They are itching her.
What is this Doctor ??

*This is known as HAND FOOT MOUTH disease ( HFMD). It's very common in monsoons.*

*What is HFMD ?? Is it serious ??*

Doctor : It's a viral illness caused by Coxsackie virus. In this , child develops lesions ( vesicles) on hands, feet, mouth & oral cavity.
It's not serious, self limiting. Only 2 percent kids develop complications.

*What foods should we avoid ?*

Doctor: No specific food restriction , but avoid giving hot, spicy food as it may cause pain in mouth while eating.

*Can my child go to playgroup/ school if he has HFMD ??*

Doctor: You should not take your child to any public place till he recovers from HFMD.
It will spread to other kids as its contigous.

*What is treatment for HFMD ?*

Doctor: Treatment is symptomatic ie Anti itching lotions.

*Is there a vaccine for HFMD ?*
Doctor: Not yet.

This post is just for awareness so if you see any such symptoms please don't do self treatment and visit your child's pediatrician for the right guidance

I am witnessing maximum children falling in the range of 2 to 5 years for counselling since past two months. They are referred by pediatricians and preschools.

These children are referred as they show delayed milestones and suspected Autism, Hyperactive.

Well if we observe these children closely they are not Autistic however they show similar symptoms like that of an Autistic child.

Also they are not clinically hyperactive too however they are not given constructive play time.

One the prime reasons is these children are exposed to screen time beyond imagination.
I am surprised to see that how gadgets and Television are replacing the real time interactions to a great extend.

The child is not given enough outdoor Play. Currently the covid situation is better so the child should be taken outdoors.
Even at home the child is not given age appropriate games and toys too.

A 5 year old child is addicted to online shopping, a 2.5 years not able to talk beyond 10 words as she is not interested in talking, a 4 years old is not able to jump, talk nor interested in any activity, a 3 years old who just lives in the world of Singham whole day, a 4.5 years can play video games like an ace player, a 5 years old feels the need of buying her own mobile phone.

And if you see other areas they have delayed development in many areas of life.

This sounds bitter or harsh. However if you are a parent and if you feel your two or five years old knows how to use a cell phone, trust me that doesn't mean your child has mastered the other areas of his life. If you feel you are just showing rhymes whole day and there is no harm, sorry but it is harmful.
Giving mobile or showing television most of the time instead of your time is the most easy way of parenting. If your 3 years old knows how to use a cell phone like a pro, trust me it's no big deal at all.

Whoever is reading this if you have any relatives/friends in your circle and is exposed to lot of screen time please request them not to do so....It's time to give your child lots of real time. If you want more guidance do meet a child- parent counselor

Q & A for Covid Vaccination for 15 to 18 years old

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦Hello Doctor, we have heard in the news about giving Covid vaccine in children for 15- 18 years age group.
Can you share some information on this ?

🧑🏻‍⚕️An important milestone is achieved in our fight against COVID 19 ie vaccination of children from 15-18 years of age.
👉🏻The vaccine offered at present is COVAXIN. It's 2 dose schedule 28 days apart even for children as in adults. It's an Intramuscular injection of 0.5 ml per dose same as in adults.

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦Doctor, where is this vaccine given & how to register for it ?
🧑🏻‍⚕️At present it's given at public health places free of cost. This vaccine is the same as that used in adults. Registration can be done through CoWin app.

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦How safe is this vaccine Doctor?
🧑🏻‍⚕️This vaccine has been found to be extremely safe and effective including against the Delta variant in adults.
👉🏻A study done on 2-12 years old children in India using COVAXIN found that the vaccine is extremely safe and induced immune response which is even better in children than in adults.

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦Does this vaccine have any major side effects?
🧑🏻‍⚕️Besides some pain and mild fever there are no other major side effects even in children.

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦What is the benefit of giving Covid vaccine to children?

🧑🏻‍⚕️This vaccine will not only protect children against COVID infection, it will also help protect adults at home and at school especially those at risk for severe diseases as vaccinated children will not pass on infections to adults around.
👉🏻Besides, vaccination in children will give confidence to parents to send them to school.

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦One last question Doctor- how early should we give the vaccine to children or can we wait for some time ?
🧑🏻‍⚕️Vaccination is going to be mandatory for every age group now. So every child must take it as per the age bracket.
👉🏻You can wait for few days but my humble plea to the parents is that all children eligible MUST take both the doses of the vaccine.

👉🏻A child with a speech-language delay is likely to have difficulty following instructions, especially if the instructions are only given orally and if they contain multiple words and/or steps.
👉🏻In addition, children who have problems with speech-language skills may also have difficulty learning how to read and spell.
👉🏻When a child's understanding of speech and language is limited, it limits their ability not only to express their emotions to others, but also to comprehend them internally.
👉🏻This may lead to teasing, which could cause the child to become shy, withdrawn and quiet.

🌻Amongst the external chaos, what matters is internal peace.
🌻This journey helped me to go in depth with regards to compassion, meditation and connect with inner soul.
🌻 I have always believed in blending western psychology with Indian philosophy and get the best outcome during in the sessions.
