Its summer time again!!
As per ancient wisdom, our body is reflection of nature around us.
It means when nature changes from one season to another, body also goes through changes from within. During hot summer, heat also accumulates within body. Body reduces internal heat to prevent it from overheating and this reduces appetite too.
Diet is best tool to keep balance within body according to season.
We have to incorporate cooling foods; which nature so intelligently gifts us in warm months to counteract heat.
The right foods eaten according to the season can help promote detox and rejuvenate the body that further leads to an overall boost in the immunity, physical and mental strength and digestion.
Foods that can reduce the heat in body are super foods in summers.
Include sattu, roasted pulses ,moong dal, chana dal, pomegranate, watermelon, fenugreek leaves, other green leafy vegetables amla , coconut water which is a natural electrolyte, papaya and alkaline vegetables like radish, shake gourd, bitter gourd, bottle gourd, cucumber, pumpkin and banana stem, and buttermilk to ensure a healthy body.
Include cooling herbs like Fennel, Coriander seed and leaves, cumin, mint leaves. You can add them in your buttermilk; make CCF tea (coriander, cumin, fennel seeds), Can have green fennel seeds or can make fennel seeds water also.
Include ghee as it’s loaded with healthy fats and helps balance internal moisture.
Eat seasonal fruits and vegetables only.
Eat at right time only, our digestive strength is at its peak during lunch time so never skip or delay lunch.
Avoid sour and citrus fruits.
