Keratoconus is a progressive eye disorder in which the normally round, dome-shaped cornea thins and begins to bulge into a cone-like shape. This abnormal shape deflects light as it enters the eye, causing distorted vision. It typically begins in the teenage years or early 20s and can worsen over time.

Greetings of the day,

It's my pleasure to inform you that Ministry of Health Government of India informed under the RTI reply which is as follows

"Important Clarification:

1.The Ministry of Health, Government of India, has confirmed under RTI (Right to Information) that all Optometry professionals holding a Diploma, Degree, Master's, or PhD in Optometry are authorized to practice Optometry independently in India.

2.This official response clears up any doubts or questions regarding the scope of practice for Optometry professionals in India. With this confirmation, all Optometrists with recognized qualifications can confidently practice independently, exercising their expertise to deliver quality eye care services."

3."RTI Response from Ministry of Health, Govt. of India:

All Optometry professionals with Diploma, Degree, Master's, or PhD in Optometry are authorized to practice Optometry independently in India. This clears up any ambiguity, and all qualified Optometrists can now practice with confidence, providing expert eye care services to the community."

भारत में हर साल लगभग 20 लाख मोतियाबिंद के नए मरीज सामने आते है. लगभग 10 लाख से लेकर 1 करोड़ 20 लाख लोग दोनों आँखों से नेत्रहीन है. जिसमे से 62.6 प्रतिशत लोगो में नेत्रहीनता का प्रमुख कारण मोतियाबिंद है.

मोतियाबिंद को टाइम पे पहचानना बहुत जरुरी है, अगर आपको दूर या पास का काम दिखाई देने लगे, गाडी चलाते समय समस्या हो या आप किसी दूसरे व्यक्ति के चेहरे के भावो को न पढ़ पाएं तो इसका प्रमुख कारण मोतियाबिंद भी हो सकता है. इस स्थिति में डॉक्टर की सलाह लेना अति आवश्यक है.

अत्याधुनिक तकनीकों के द्वारा मोतियाबिंद का समय रहते उपचार संभव है. टेक्नोलॉजी ने मोतियाबिंद के ऑपरेशन को बहुत आसान और प्रभावी बना दिया है. WHO की रिपोर्ट के अनुसार भारत में मोतियाबिंद से होने वाली नेत्रहीनता में 2003 से 25प्रतिशत की कमी आयी है जो की मोतियाबिंद सर्जरी के प्रति लोगों में जागरूकता के कारण संभव हुआ

रोकथाम
मोतियाबिंद को बिना सर्जरी के पूर्णतया रोका तो नहीं जा सकता लेकिन इस के विकास को धीमा जरूर किया जा सकता है. डॉक्टरों के अनुसार निम्नलिखित चीजें मोतियाबिंद की रोकथाम में सहायक हो सकती है:

आँखों की नियमित रूप से जांच ४० वर्ष की उम्र के बाद मुख्य रूप से
सूर्य की अल्ट्रा वायलेट किरणों से जहाँ तक हो बचाव करें, बहार धुप में निकलने पे सनग्लासेस लगाएं यह UV किरणों को ब्लॉक क्र देते है
डायबीटीज होने पे मोतियाबिंद का खतरा ज्यादा बढ़ जाता है, इसका उचित इलाज कराएं और बजन को बढ़ने न दें
हरी सब्जियों को अपने भोजन में शामिल करें, इनमें बहुत सारे एंटी-ऑक्सीडेंट्स होते हैं जो आंखों को स्वस्थ्य रखने में महत्वपूर्ण भूमिका निभाते हैं
धूम्रपान छोड़ें और अल्कोहल का काम सेवन करें
