🌟 Attention all friends of eyesight!

We have a heartwarming initiative that will touch your soul and bring light to young eyes in need. πŸ””πŸ””

For over 15 years, Usha Kiran Eye Hospital, in collaboration with the inspiring Sri Vivekakanda Sevashrama, has been a beacon of hope for children from lower socio-economic backgrounds in Mysore. ❀️

πŸ‘οΈ Imagine a world where every child can see the beauty that surrounds them, where their dreams are not limited by eye ailments. This is the vision that Usha Kiran and Mr. Sethuram are tirelessly working towards. πŸ‘οΈ

Together, they provide free surgical care and treatment to children up to 18 years old, facing a variety of eye conditions like cataracts, squints, droopy lids, tear sac problems, tumors, retinal growth, and more. πŸ‘ΆπŸ‘§πŸ‘¦

No questions are asked if the child has an anthyodaya ( just to ensure family is from lower socio economic strata), ensuring access to quality care for all. And for those without the card, the family's economic background is taken into consideration, because no deserving child should ever be denied treatment. πŸ’™

🌍 This incredible program knows no geographic boundaries - children from anywhere in India are warmly welcomed. 🌍

🀝 As friends, we have the power to make a profound impact. Let's join hands with Usha Kiran and Mr. Sethuram by identifying children in need and reaching out to me or Mr. Sethuram to coordinate corrective surgery. Together, we can change lives! 🀝

πŸ’šπŸŒˆ Every contribution counts! Your support is vital in making a difference in the lives of these children. πŸ’šπŸŒˆ

πŸ””βœ¨ Follow me to stay updated on our ongoing efforts to bring joy and clarity to those in need. Together, we can light up their world! βœ¨πŸ””

πŸ‘€πŸ’ͺ Protect Your Child's Vision: Minimize Screen Time, Maximize Eye Health! πŸ’»πŸ‘οΈ

Children have faced tremendous challenges during the pandemic. Confined to their homes, outdoor playtime vanished, resulting in a significant increase in TV and screen usage. Unfortunately, excessive screen time has taken a toll on their precious eyes. Now, it's crucial to reduce screen time and prioritize their eye health.

Extended use of digital devices can cause digital eye strain in children, leading to dry eyes, headaches, blurred vision, and neck and shoulder pain. Prolonged screen time strains the eyes, causing fatigue, headaches, blurry or double vision, and sensitivity to light. Additionally, excessive screen time during childhood can increase the risk of myopia, especially for those who spend more time indoors and on screens.

To protect your child's eyes, it's essential to teach them healthy screen time habits. Follow these simple tips to instill good eye care habits:

🌟 Take breaks and follow the 20/20 rule: Encourage your child to take breaks from screens every 20 minutes. Limit their recreational screen time to two hours per day. The 20/20 rule reminds them to relax their eyes during intense visual tasks.

🌟 Change screen positions: Adjust the screen distance, position, brightness, and contrast settings. Consider using a blue light filter to reduce eye strain. Also, motivate your child to spend more time outdoors, which can help lower the risk of myopia.

🌟 Schedule regular eye checkups: Make sure to schedule regular eye exams for your children. Early detection and treatment of eye problems are vital.

Digital devices are a part of our modern lives, but as parents, we must limit screen time. Encourage physical activity, social interactions, and prioritize activities that promote healthy physical and cognitive development. Let's embrace the benefits of the digital world while safeguarding our children's eye health.

At Usha Kiran Charitable Trust, we understand the importance of healthy eyesight for children. Join us in our mission to protect their vision and ensure a bright future for them. Share this post and spread awareness about the impact of screen time on eye health. Together, let's make a difference! β€οΈπŸ‘¨β€πŸ‘©β€πŸ‘§β€πŸ‘¦

πŸŒπŸ‘οΈ Protecting Eye Health: Combating Air Pollution! πŸ‘οΈπŸŒ
πŸ“’πŸ”” Attention, dear friends! We are back with important information about our precious eyes and the invisible threat lurking in the air we breathe. Join us as we dive into the impact of air pollution on our eye health, and learn how we can protect our vision! 🌬️😷
πŸ‘‰πŸ”¬ In a recent article from News Medical, we discovered the alarming link between air pollution and eye health. The hazardous pollutants present in the air, such as particulate matter, smoke, and toxic gases, can pose serious risks to our eyes, leading to a range of ocular conditions.
πŸ‘€βœ‹ Excessive exposure to air pollution has been associated with various eye problems, including:
βœ… Dryness and irritation
βœ… Allergic conjunctivitis
βœ… Redness and inflammation
βœ… Watery or teary eyes
βœ… Itchy and gritty sensation
βœ… Increased risk of cataracts
βœ… Aggravation of existing eye conditions
😒😷 It's disheartening to see how air pollution can harm our eyes, but fret not, because together, we can make a difference! Here's how:
πŸŒ³πŸšΆβ€β™‚οΈπŸš΄β€β™€οΈ Embrace green transportation: Opt for walking, cycling, or using public transport whenever possible. By reducing vehicle emissions, we contribute to cleaner air and healthier eyes.
🏑🌿 Create a green sanctuary: Plant trees and greenery around your home and community. These natural filters help purify the air, making it safer for everyone's eyes.
πŸ§΄πŸ’¦ Practice good hygiene: Wash your hands frequently to prevent the transfer of pollutants from your hands to your eyes. It's a simple yet effective step to safeguard your vision.
πŸ˜ŽπŸ•ΆοΈ Shield your eyes: On high pollution days, consider wearing sunglasses or protective eyewear to minimize exposure to harmful particles and UV rays.
🌬️πŸͺŸ Improve indoor air quality: Keep indoor spaces well-ventilated, invest in air purifiers, and avoid smoking indoors. Fresh, clean air inside your home or workplace can significantly reduce eye-related issues.
πŸ—£οΈπŸ’ͺ Raise awareness: Spread the word about the impact of air pollution on eye health. Educate your friends, family, and community about preventive measures to protect their eyes.

Corneal abrasion is a scratch or injury to the clear, protective outer layer (cornea) of the eye.

It can be caused by a variety of factors, such as foreign objects, contact lenses, or even a person's own fingernail.

Symptoms of a corneal abrasion can include eye pain, sensitivity to light, blurred vision, and the feeling of something in the eye.

Treatment may involve antibiotic eye drops, pain relief medication, and/or a patch or bandage contact lens to protect the eye while it heals.

If left untreated, a corneal abrasion can lead to a more serious condition called a corneal ulcer, which can cause permanent vision loss.

Here are some points on how to avoid corneal abrasions:

Wear eye protection such as safety goggles when participating in activities that may put your eyes at risk of injury, such as sports or working with power tools or chemicals.

Avoid rubbing your eyes, which can cause scratches or introduce bacteria into the eye.

Be careful when handling contact lenses, and follow the recommended cleaning and storage guidelines to reduce the risk of infection or damage to the cornea.

Use caution when using makeup or other products around the eyes, and avoid sharing these products with others.

If you have dry eyes, use eye drops as recommended by your eye doctor to keep the cornea moist and reduce the risk of injury.

Seek prompt treatment for any eye infections, as they can increase the risk of corneal abrasions or ulcers.

If you have an object in your eye or experience sudden eye pain, seek medical attention immediately to prevent further damage.
