ACL Injury.
What is it?

ACL injury is a ligament tear in the knee joint. The ACL ligament is one of the bands of tissue that connects the femur to the tibia.

Causes:
An ACL tear usually occurs during sports activities. The ACL can tear during abrupt movements such as pivots, directional changes or sudden stops. The ACL can also tear after a jump and an awkward landing. Sometimes, ACL tear is caused by a traumatic injury such as a violent tackle or a car accident.

Most common symptoms:
— Popping sound or sensation in the knee at the moment of injury
— Knee instability
— Swelling
— Stiffness
— Bruising
— Limping
— Pain when standing

Treatment:
Minor and incomplete tears can be treated with rest and physiotherapy.
Complete tears with instability are treated with ACL Reconstructive surgery
