Explained in simple language, for everyday readers.

👉

What Is Rasa? Rasa literally means taste, as perceived by the tongue at the time of intake. Most people think Ayurvedic medicines are just “herbs.”

In reality, Ayurveda has a clear system that explains why a substance works, not just that it works.

I’ve written this in simple language for anyone curious about how Ayurvedic medicines are actually understood without jargon or mysticism.

Dravya Guṇa Vijñāna explains how Ayurveda understands medicines through rasa, guṇa, vīrya, vipāka, and prabhāva in a systematic way.

Sree Sitaraghava Vaidyasala was founded in 1900 by Bhishagratna Palyam Venkatachala Pandit in Palya, Kollegal Taluk, Karnataka. Trained in Ayurvedic medicine by his father, he devoted his life to healing with compassion and skill.

During the 1919 pneumonia epidemic, he formulated the Lokamayahara Kasturi Pills (Kasturi Goli/Vayu Guliga), a remedy trusted for generations to support respiratory wellness.

A philanthropist as much as a physician, he dedicated himself to Anna Dana (feeding the needy) and Vidya Dana (supporting education), earning titles such as “Ayurvedophadhyaya,” “Bhishak Ratna,” and “Dharma Rakshaka.”
