From chaos to emptiness, Heavy luggage, and unwavering focus
A glimpse into my first week of Hatha Yoga and Pranayama in Mysore, India
🧳 Heavy Luggage: Sneaky Expectations
Arriving here I was quickly faced with expectations I didn’t even know I had. My consistent practice of witnessing my thoughts allowed me to see this conflicts arise, to investigate them with radical honesty, and flush them out—I could then enjoy every moment as it came to me, and focus on my main intention: surrender to yoga.
🌅 Unwavering Focus: an Extra Jet-Lag
The 3pm pranayama practice requires to finish lunch by 12pm, which means I need to plan breakfast early enough by 8am, after a 2-hour hatha practice that started at 6am—I set my alarm at 5:20am to meditate beforehand and go to bed by 9:30pm to get enough rest.
This is the dedication and discipline needed to see the results of the Sadhana, the practice. Letting go of cravings for any food at any time. An unwavering focus on my intention to recover strength and vitality, with a calm and steady nervous system.
💃 Bhajan Clubbing: from Chaos to Emptiness
Some of you probably know kirtan (or mantra chanting), and maybe you’ve seen a few people stand up and dance during those events—but last night was another level, with 90-min nonstop chanting to Shiva, raising the energy to a trance-state with 100 people dancing to the intoxicating rhythm.
Let the chaos emerge and the fire burn bright, and sit down in stillness and silence to integrate and start fresh.
