What's difference between Elcb and RCCB
Answer Both are used for one purpose to protect equipment from damage and from electric shock.Before people used ELCB but now RCCB is updated version of Elcb .
Why Elcb is very rare used.
One main reason is RCCB is used without earthing but ELCB cannot be used without earthing.
Second difference are
It ensures 100% detection of leakage current& is available to sense the AC as well as DC leakage current
Elcb is not preferable as it can only detect current that flow back through the main earth wire
Note.
Earthing is required when an RCCB is connected to the circuit because the earthing passes the extra current to the ground before any damage occur. No earthing, no flow of false current to the ground and thus if any person accidentally come in contact, he will experience an electrical shock
