हार्ट फ़ेल्योर अक्सर लोगों द्वारा गलत समझा जाता है। यह एक आकस्मिक घटना या एक प्रकरण नहीं है। यह एक गंभीर मेडिकल कंडीशन है और इसका भ्रामक नाम है, हार्ट फ़ेल्योर के साथ दिल अचानक काम करना बंद नहीं करता है। इसके बजाय, हार्ट फ़ेल्योर धीरे-धीरे बढ़ता है क्योंकि हार्ट की मांसपेशी धीरे-धीरे कमजोर हो जाती है। 'फ़ेल्योर' शरीर की जरूरतों को पूरा करने के लिए पर्याप्त रक्त पंप करने के लिए हार्ट की अक्षमता को संदर्भित करता है।हार्ट फ़ेल्योर के प्रभावी प्रबंधन के लिए, असामान्य हार्ट राइम को नियंत्रित करने में मदद करने के लिए पेसमेकर जैसे कार्डियक रीसिंक्रोंनाईजेसन थेरेपी (सीआरटी) CRT उपकरणों का उपयोग किया जाता है। यह उपकरण हार्ट को सामान्य दर पर धड़कने के लिए इलेक्ट्रिक पल्स का उपयोग करता है। डिफिब्रिलेटर नामक एक अन्य उपकरण एक ऐसा उपकरण है जो हार्ट को एक इलेक्ट्रिक पल्स या झटका भेजकर सामान्य धड़कन को बहाल करता है। यह अरीथीमिया को रोकने या ठीक करने के लिए उपयोग किया जाता है, दिल की धड़कन जो असमान है या जो बहुत धीमी या बहुत तेज होती है। डिफिब्रिलेटर दिल की धड़कन को भी बहाल कर सकता है अगर दिल अचानक काम करना बंद कर दे। CRT-D नामक एक अत्यधिक परिष्कृत कार्डियक रेज़िन सिंक्रोनाइज़ेशन थेरेपी को वैश्विक रूप से पेसमेकर और डिफिब्रिलेटर दोनों के लाभ की पेशकश करने वाले कॉम्बो डिवाइस के रूप में उपयोग किया जाता है।
