Aao Gao Chale… Let Us Go to the Grassroots and Spread Knowledge.
Antyodaya in action—taking science, skill, and compassion to the last doctor, for the last patient
IVF consultants and fertility specialists across Maharashtra work under the banner of the Maharashtra Chapter of the Indian Society of Assisted Reproduction (MSR–ISAR). When our team took charge, with Dr Ameet Patki as Chairperson and I having the privilege to serve as Secretary General, we collectively decided to redefine the way Continuing Medical Education (CMEs) reaches doctors.
Our vision was simple yet powerful—to take CMEs beyond metropolitan cities and five-star hotels, and reach taluka places and small towns. These are areas where there is no shortage of patients or clinical work, but where periodic academic updating is essential.
With this thought, we initiated CMEs in remote and semi-urban areas, collaborating with various medical organisations such as the Indian Medical Association (IMA), NEEMA, and Homeopathy Associations. General practitioners and lady practitioners involved in infertility care have especially benefitted from this unique initiative.
The response in every small town has been overwhelming. Doctors attend in large numbers—not just to listen, but to interact, discuss real-life clinical scenarios, and find solutions to their day-to-day challenges. These programs are vibrant, engaging, and deeply rooted in practical learning.
True progress in medicine happens not in five-star halls, but when knowledge reaches the last mile
For us, the satisfaction is immense. Delivering lectures in air-conditioned halls and luxury hotels is something we have done for decades. But going to smaller places, reaching the last mile, understanding local realities, and sharing knowledge at the grassroots level—that brings a completely different sense of fulfillment.
