W Sitting in Children: Safe or Harmful? What Parents Must Know
Many kids sit in the “W” position. It’s usually okay if they do it sometimes. But if they sit like this all the time, it can put extra pressure on their hips, knees, and ankles. It may also stop their core and leg muscles from getting stronger.
Try gently guiding your child to other sitting positions like criss-cross, side sitting, long sitting, or kneeling. These help build better balance and strength.
Don’t stress — every child is different. Just encourage healthy sitting habits. If you’re worried, you can always talk to a pediatric therapist.
