Emergency Helpline System

We are pleased to inform you that the Health and Family Welfare Department, Government of Sikkim, has initiated a comprehensive Emergency Helpline System, which is operational from 22nd April 2025.

This initiative is designed to strengthen emergency medical response and provide timely assistance to the public. Through this helpline, individuals will be able to obtain critical information regarding:

*Ambulance availability

*Healthcare services accessible at the nearest Health Centre, especially in the event of road accidents or other medical emergencies

Furthermore, in instances where a person is rescued—either by the police or members of the public—and is being transported to a health facility, advance intimation can be made to the respective health centre via this helpline to ensure preparedness and timely medical attention.

In addition to emergency support, this helpline will also serve as a grievance and suggestion portal. Should there be any inconvenience faced at any health institution—such as water scarcity, unavailability of medical personnel, or any other operational concern—the same may be reported through the helpline. These concerns will be duly communicated to the appropriate authorities for swift redressal will also cover District Hospital, Community Health Centers, Primary Health Centre and Primary health Sub Centre.
We seek your support in widely disseminating this information to ensure optimal utilisation of the system by the general public.

Preventing possible water borne diseases :

ASHA KABREY AND VHSNC members actively participated on cleaning of water sources and testing of water.

ASHA Kabrey collected samples from sources for testing of water for possible f***l contamination and is awaited for report.

VHND at Upper Kabrey AWC with the presence of Hon'ble Panchayats from Karek-Kabrey GPU on 17th April 2025

POSHAN PAKHWADA with the theme of "healthy eating practices, nutrition and counseling" along with population based NCD screening.

IEC given on balanced diet, various sources of nutrition, diet and lifestyle modification, and the importance of supplementary diet providing at AWC.

Highlighted the elderly friendly diet ,care, and the importance of taking care of the aging population. Importance of iron and folic acid supplements by ANCs and children.

Emphasized the declining fertility rate of the state and encouraged eligible couples to plan for conception, highlighted schemes like Vatsalya , JSY, JSSK, and PMMVY

PBS for NCD and follow-up done and distributed medicines.

Kabrey HWC: National Safe Motherhood Day Observed today at Kabrey HWC.

IEC imparted to ANCs, lactating, and nursing mothers regarding the importance of early registration, 4 ANC, along with 3 additional checkups at PMSMA clinic, indications of high-risk pregnancy, congenital deformities, neural tube defects, ectopic pregnancy and the importance of folic acid and Iron supplemation.

Emphasized on Routine ANC checkups, timely vaccination of children, and encouraged diet and lifestyle modification.

Discussed the decreasing fertility rate of the state and possible causes , encouraged eligible couples to plan for conception, and highlighted the various schemes of government to encourage fertility rate of state.

Routine ANC checkup and immunization of children and growth monitoring done.

JAN SAMVAD for FY 2024-25 organised today at Kabrey HWC in the presence of Hon'ble Panchayats , JAS members, VHSNC members, ASHAs , Health and Wellness Ambassadors and general public.

MPHW (M) informed participants about the motive of organising Jan Samvad, Ayushman Bharat Yojana, AB-HWC services, achievements of HWC , difficulty and gaps , role of Jan Arogya Samiti, utilization of funds , inter sectoral collaboration, supervision of Gram Panchayat, ownership of health centre by community and the detail information on infrastructure development.

Panchayat Vice President and Member Panchayats on their address encouraged the public to take maximum benifits of health care services and informed about the developmental plans of GPU, which is going to be implemented in the coming finicial year.

Health and Wellness Ambassador from KAIZALAY JHS highlighted the ongoing health and wellness programs at schools and the challenges they are facing regarding dropout, substance abuse, and mental health among students.

ASHA KAREK, on her address, gave information on the functioning of VHSNC ,fund utilization and the role of committee focusing on sanitation, hygiene, early marriage, teenage pregnancy, and substance abuse in community.

SHG representative highlighted the difficulties women’s are facing to access health services, specifically from hard to reach and vulnerable hamlets and assured her support to motivate women's from her group to take most benifits of the health services available at HWC.

Grivienances and appreciation were heard from the public, and answers and solutions were assured.

Encouraging health services seeking behavior and the elderly friendly community among the community , NCD follow-up elders from hard to reach areas , caregivers of elders, and women's who have delivered their baby at HWC were feliciated with gifts.
